was it run into ? or did they back it into a pole ?

Unknown, the CARFAX doesn't have a record of the damage which in my limited experience probably means there was no claim against them so it wasn't hit by a civilian that had insurance. Doesn't mean it wasn't damaged while in pursuit, or nailed in the station's parking lot.

In reply to John Welsh :

The 3.7 makes the "Interceptor Utility" (Explorer) scoot amazingly well.  It'd be fun in a Taurus, too.

Actually the Michigan State Police are nice enough to publish their annual Police Vehicle Test Reports on the internet https://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,4643,7-123--16274--,00.html The 2017 edition (https://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/2017_MY_Police_Vehicle_Evaluation_Test_Book-Final_544109_7.pdf) shows 0-60 for the 3.7 sedan at 7.4 sec compared to 8.0 sec for the Utility, the eco-boost sedan beats all competitors by a healthy margin at 5.7 sec. Some great data in their, including their lap-times under "Vehicle Dynamics".

Ottawa (Eric)...  have you looked into the Rideau Auction sales held in Winchester just south of Ottawa (Bank Street at Hwy 43).  They show a public auction to be held Saturday, January 18, that lists several ex-police Taurus (Quebec QPP) cars. Might be worth visiting (if the weather isn't crap).

I've never attended or bought anything from them but randomly check their inventory out of curiosity.

cheers

I was chatting with Eric when you posted that link, and he immediately fell down the rabbit hole :)

Thanks Gordon! I never saw those before, really appreciate the link. I think I will check it out.

BTW I didn't win tha auction for the damaged Interceptor, it went for $1K above what I was comfortable with, but I'm a patient man and there are more auctions...

Eric...   Good luck.  BTW, I believe the Rideau setup has monthly (or bi-monthly) auctions, both dealer only and public...

edit...  And to reply to Keith....  I’ve come close, but always chickened out when it came to actually going with $$ in hand...

cheers

Gordon
