Wow, didn't expect to see the car get behind the barriers.

No kidding, that looked really bad. Good thing for the halo.

Wow, amazing replays. That catch fence is a lot stronger than it looks. That could have been really bad.

Holy crap.  Not too far in the past, there's a strong probability that would have been a fatality...

They didn't complete a lap, going back to grid positions.

Oops, beat me to it

Got to hand it to Latifi on the original start, he hooked that thing up and was through the hole between George and Zhou before they knew what was going on and was all over Norris before the Red came out.

It looks like they are reordering the grid, putting the Ferrari first... did I see that wrong?

Huh, grid order start. Why??

On another note, I always forget that most people aren't having breakfast while they watch F1.  I saw a guy eating an ice cream cone on TV there and thought: who would have ice ream at 10:30AM!?!

Big loser there is Lewis.  Max will pass Carlos at some point, but Lewis will be sad camper.

Did I hear demonstrators tried to disrupt the race?

Ludicrous that they are resetting the grid.

Yeah, some sort of climate activist group was threatening that they were going to have a "demonstration" by running on to the hot track.

Dumbasses.

Apparently they were heading to a blind corner - very much risking their lives had the race not been red flagged.

It's 3:30 there. That said they have baked beans for breakfast there so you never know.

Not to disparage the halo, but it hooked into the gravel, throwing the car over the barrier.

Bottas commented that there were people on the track on the left, I believe they were wearing orange shirts from his on board. Maybe 4-5 just before a bridge on the Wellington straight. Race was red flagged by then fortunatley.

It's really the fish for breakfast that throws me more than anything...

I actually don't like the races that are in our time zone.  I like getting up early, watching the race with coffee and breakfast, and then getting on with my day.

Also, was that lady bringing beers to the medical crew?

It wasn't the Halo hooking into the gravel, but everything as the car started to roll and dug in. Goes to show once again that gravel isn't the greatest thing for the safety of these cars though.

Multiple layers of safety equipment kept this from being a truly terrible accident. Kudos to the FIA.

Sucks for George, but I get it. It's a very human instinct to want to go help someone who might be injured, but the last thing the safety crews need is an extra untrained person getting in the way and possibly making things worse.
