I celebrated by starting the AMC Javelin's V8 up and letting it gulp down a half gallon of gas just making sweet, sweet exhaust noise. Ahhhh, freedom.
How did you celebrate? (Car-wise, we know y'all are pyros and will blow stuff up ).

rode six laps of my "hill route" on the road bike today. it's one hill, up one side and down the other, then turn around and do it going the other way. after that i watered the garden and went to the in-laws' for dinner. now i'm watching the European GP (again) and surfing this here web.
fitted the Kirky seat in the passengers side... in and out several times while I adjusted the sub belt
pulled the hubs and repacked the bearings on the HF tire trailer, reattached the plywood deck and tool box.. at least half of the deck ... just got it back from the welding shop where I had the tire tail ® where I had it welded to the back half.. lots more stable way to carry the track tires than I had before
all done in this ridicules heat we're having here in the mountains 88 - 90°... sweat tripping and shirt soaking in a matter of minutes
damn it's hot
Mowed the grass etc, then had Toyman and his fambly over for burgers &c, then we watched the local fireworks show. It so happens my house is ~1/4 mile from the municipal center where they put on a pro show. Ah yes, it was good to watch my tax dollars at work in the night sky.
I painted the house. Five gallons of gray sprayed this morning through a Wagner. I still haven't gotten all the paint off me, and I might be deaf.
Then headed to Curmudgeon's house. Good burgers and dogs and great pyro show to finish it off. I didn't take any pictures, sorry.
Now I'm going to die. Fifty times up and down ladders is hard on a fat guy.
More undercoating removal on the triumph. One of my dogs is terrified by fireworks - doesn't make fireworks much fun when she's trying to dig a hole in the carpet to hide in - at least till the doggy downers kick in. The other dog was gun trained - she doesn't care.
Took SWMBO's son (7) to the fireworks in Marietta (GA) Square. It started raining, but they fired em off anyway. One great moment when they fired off one of the big shells, and at the moment it went off, there was also a huge flash of cloud-to-cloud lightning behind it. Beautiful.
Thank you Mr. Jefferson for the poetry (and the guts to do it), and a Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans here!
Drove 60 miles with the miata full of camping stuff to a friends cabin. Jet Skis, Jet boat, 24' fun boat with a 454 Merc, and a 60 hp pontoon. Yup, the Miata was the most fuel efficient, but when you flip a miata over in the water, it'll ruin your day; do that on a jet ski and you'll be smiling for a while. Watching your buddy being thrown from the jet boat after trying to explain how people get thrown out is a riot, also. After more than a beer or two the toys were put away, safety first. Lots of suntan lotion too.
