5.3 LS swap in my Volvo 240, so the power steering pump is in front of the steering rack. However, the Silverado my engine came from had the steering box in front of the pump, so the return fitting on the reservoir points forward, like this:
Any Saginaw P series pump reservoir should fit the GM truck accessory bracket, provided that it's canted over towards the drivers side, not straight up and down. Which one should I go find in the junkyard/buy a reservoir for that has a return pipe that points rearward, or at least down?
Alternately, a different style pump is fine so long as it'll fit in the space I have. I'm adapting to a -6 AN line to go to the rack anyway for the feed, so I don't really care what kind of feed fitting it has.
The pipe can bend fairly easily.
Alternatively, some Jeeps (I'd like to say 2.4 engine Wranglers) had aluminum bodied, remote reservoir Saginaw pumps. You should be able to make that work with a reservoir from a 740 or something.
....didn't 240s have Saginaw pumps anyway?
EDIT: It may have been one of the last of the 4cyl pushrod Wranglers instead.
GM REMOTE MOUNT RESIVOUR p s PUMP IS THE gO TO. New, look to Your Speedway Catalog . used is late 70''s 80's pump and brackets for head mount are avail..and block mount as well.
And GRM advertiseing partner Rock auto could have new pump Cheap
i cut it off so it pointed up along the back of the pump like the old school pumps and it has held for 7 years.
My first look would be for a 240 Volvo, pre 85.

Ah ha! My car (1993) had a Saginaw Type II, but earlier ones had a P series with canted reservoir, and rear-pointing outlet. Perfect!
