Sounds like great advice. I got a complete extra engine and trans. with the car. I will prob. just go stock for a while and build a purpose built engine.

The 1500 motor has some flaws due to its being based on a block originally designed for 803cc, with the extra displacement and power it flexes like it's made of chewing gum. It also has three main bearings, for comparison the 3 main 1500 MGA motor was redesigned as a 5 main when it went to 1800cc in the MGB for additional durability. The 3 main A series MG motor stopped at 1275 cc. I have seen more than one 1500 crank break just in street use, for that reason don't skimp on block prep! Have it align bored.

My '79 has a .75 inch spacer on the rear spring with Corvette shock absorbers. I think they are Bilsteins or something like that. The Vette shocks really stiffened up the ride yet are still streetable.

lowering the rear changes the toe so you'll also need the shim the radius rods or use adjustable radius rods.
