Yes it might be coned to death & can't walk the course, yes there's penalties for going over 6500 rpm, yes they want to nickle and dime me for everything possible (I will spend the extra $30 to use my GoPro).

But I get to drive a berkeleying Lamborghini today. It's going to be a good day.

That is awesome. I expect a full update and details upon completion.

My co-driver/nanny was actually pretty cool when I did the Lambo/Ferrari drive. I think I was the first driver who had autocross experience because he was screaming the first go-round before her realized that I knew brake and turn in points pretty well. Find out how many laps you get BTW...I was slowing after my third, not realizing I had two more to go.

One of my old Scion friends is driving the Ferrari. We have a friendly bet on slow time buys fast time a pop.

Well if you don't drop back below 6500 rpm its only one penalty right?

I did a exotic drive thing at Summit Point in an F430 a few years ago, 6,000 RPM limit in "Rain" mode. Super underwhelming.

Something like this?:

That's the wife in the passenger seat. I am lucky enough to have been a paid instructor for them the last 2 years at the IMS. These were taken last weekend. Although, we didn't have any rev limiting.

A friend of mine recently became a paid instructor for Xtreme Xperience. Apparently the only limiting factor is the instructor's confidence in the driver .

In reply to pinchvalve:

It's an autocross, not a track day. I get 3 laps and pretty sure they'll be one at a time depending on how many are there at the 4pm time slot. I wore an SCCA shirt, that gets me bonus points right? Like stickers make extra horsepower.

I got to drive a Lamborghini Aventador for the pace car at the Kansas round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series race last year.

It was the opposite of coned to death, it was a short (20 seconds?) course with a few curves, and one chicane. The Lamborghini Gallardo broke a wheel just before my group started, and we were all going to use Ferrari F430's (oh darn) but they replaced the wheel just in time.

Paddle shift, it was in Sport, and the instructor popped it into second shortly after launch for me, then stayed in second the remaining time. The clutch felt really weird and took getting used to, but it wasn't long before I got brave. It had rained on/off until our group went, and it was sprinkling during my runs. I managed to get the back end out a little on a curve, the instructor laughed, I secretly puckered a little with the thought of being "the guy" to spin it out into a light post.

My instructor was awesome, good tips, good feedback and helped me settle into a 550HP V10 car costing about $180k without worrying about over-revving (a $1k charge if I remember), and even gave me a bonus lap! I pulled up after 3 laps and said "was that 3, or 2?" He said that was the third....but go pull up again. Sweet! That would have cost like $50 just for that lap. I gave him a $50 tip and purchased the email download video of my laps from inside. The paperwork said we could use our own cameras but at the event they said no. Brought both Go Pro's too.

It might not have been a 60 second course or full of 180's and Chicago Boxes but it was fun enough for me. And everyone else I saw there. My friend did the F430 and couldn't wipe the smile from his face. He and his wife took video/photos of us both so I hope to have some good ones for souvenirs. I got some decent stuff on his phone for him during his laps.

Would I do it again? Hell yes. They're coming back in August, I'm tempted to try the Ferrari this time. Since my childhood dream was realized today. I got to drive a berkeleying Lamborghini!

EDIT: He did get this one after my last lap:

I did this in a superleggera. i might still have the video. I dont remember a rev limiter but I do remember almost tagging my boss in his gallardo, came out of esses a little to hot, got close to the guy in front gave a little brake, rear slid a little, instructor started yelling, no FASTER FASTER. I told him uh dude, unless you want me to get under him, get him loose, and put him in the wall, I cant go any faster.

I drove a Ferrari f430 scuderia around Atlanta Motorsports Park a few weeks ago, with Xtreme Xperience. When I got in the car, I explained to instructor he didnt need to worry, I play Forza. He laughed and responded with that's how he taught his kids to race, since it does teach you the basics. Instead of going slow around the track for the first lap like everyone else, we were hauling. It's rather terrifying when you have no clue of the track. It was an incredible experience. The track is rather small, so the f430 was a smidge overkill. I think it would have been more fun taking out one of the exocet's that was testing at the same time. Less terrifying, and I would have been able to push it a bit more.

I asked the instructor if he ever has a bad day at work. He told me a few weeks ago a woman forgot where the brake pedal was. That indeed, is a bad day at work.
