His thread on shift knobs made me remember the old Kamei golf ball knobs.  While looking for an image to hotlink I found that they were back in production so I ordered one because. Why not?

I used be heavily into rabbits. I had at least a few dozen of them. My last one was 15 years ago at this point. Knowing the knob was on its way from the UK I half heartedly started looking at CL and marketplace. Then last Saturday our own ethnic food wrap aficionado texted me an offer I couldn't refuse.

So I cleaned up the Avalanche and listed it too cheap to make it move fast

It worked and the Chevy was gone in less than a day.

Today burrito brought it down..

And just like that I have a Caddy again!

Because of a silly shift knob.

I wonder how many of us of a certain age had a Rabbit with bumpers removed?

And I'd do it again, too, if I had anywhere to put it.

Had an '82 W/manual trans purchased new. Wife's DD, both ends smashed really hard at least 3 times, without bumpers things would have been bad I'm sure.

Our own Burrito lovin' GRMer.

This was my last Caddy. 82 with a 16V from a scirocco, bumped up to 1.9L with an Autotech kit.. It ran on a MS1V2.2 and made silly power for what it was. I wrecked it in 2014 and have missed it since.

Obviously, plans for the new one are to recreate the old one, but better.

You should have seen it when I bought it.  It was without a doubt the most disgusting vehicle I have ever bought, including Fiats that lived in fields and an e30 that lived in a pond.

Had some good times with that little trucklet.  I'll miss having it around, but am definitely excited to see what kind of trouble Trent gets into with it. heart

This is not making my desire for a caddy disappear.

And I'll totally endorse that kind of thought train. It's perfectly logical to buy a car to fit a shift knob you have.

Nice car!

Less than a month in. Lots of maintenance and a few upgrades.

Lowered via coilovers up front, drop plates in the rear with some Konis and 150 in/lb helper springs. New loaded control arms, new complete tie rods. New door handles, upgraded to intermittent wipers,

Most importantly

New motor mount and exhaust hangers to make it feel like less of a jalopy. It is now so quiet I can hear the bad wheel bearings laugh

And I temporarily swapped in my euro spec Miata seats to better match the tan-ish interior while I collect pieces to do an interior color change.

It is getting good!

Love these things, looks like you could park it at a car wash underbody wash for a few minutes to make working on it next time a little more pleasant.

Yeah, It is dirty.

I have never seen a car wash in Oregon that does the underbody. No road salt out here so it kind of isn't a thing.

Nice caddy but I'm having serious garage envy. From even just that one angle, that looks like an amazing space.

Standing under it with a pressure washer wouldn't be fun.  Maybe make your own with a yard water sprinkler

I swear they make a pressure washer attachment for this exact situation.

Edit, found it!  $30 on amazon...
