So, some might have seen the Miata misfire debacle. The short of it is this- I can spend a grand on rebuild, a grand on a low mile engine install, or a grand on a down payment for an NC.

it turns out, Milo is an old friend of mine. Haven't seen him in awhile. We talked and now Im Getting it for $7500. Kbb is at 9-10k.
Im taking this as a sign from the higher power of approval of my actions. Meanwhile, the wife is waiving some papers in my face that say something about "due", I dunno.. wasn't really paying attention. Credit Onion here i come. May possibly have it by Monday/Tuesday.
Excellent. Love the NC2. Way better than the ugly NC1. My wifes NC2 PRHT is nothing but fun, especially with Mazda's atrocious resale value. When brand new, there were $9,500 discount we enjoyed.

One question I have is, regarding the age and mileage, should I be concerned about the timing belt? Do timing belts have age limits or just mileage?

Absolutely! In the middle east you can get hte 100 series in the sand storm. We didn't get it here, when I got my 05 new.
Nice car and that price seems like a steal. I know the platform is awesome they can really be set up to handle.
NC is on my short list for when kid hauling duties are less demanding or when money gets a little easier to come by, whichever comes first.
