I think it would be really useful to illustrate multiple ways of doing this. The 3D scanning is a fun trick but kinda unnecessary for this project, which is just a bunch of circles on a flat flange. Is the 3D scanning any better than a bit of time with a set of calipers, followed by printing a "prototype" on a normal paper printer? Heck, if you have a gasket or existing header/manifold you could take a cellphone pic and trace it - you don't need a lot of precision for this. That's still CAD and you can still send your file to SendCutSend so your fabricator doesn't have to sit around and wait, but there's a lot less dinking around.

There are certainly times when 3D scans are useful, we've used them a few times. But it's pretty common for us to move to more old-school methods because it's easy to spend a bunch of time fussing with the scan instead of moving forward.
