Just tuned in and saw a big wreck. Now they are saying mandatory pits tops after 30 laps due to tire issues.
So what happens. This seems to happen every now and then in various series. How do the tire manufacturers mess this up.
Ok and these guys are nuts. So much crashing they are down to 12 cars.
Typical crazy Texas Indycar race. It's awesome.
Oh and a 1.5 mile track and they are averaging 220 mph. Yikes.
If I was a team owner I would make my team use there worst car.

If it's anything like F1, the teams let the air out of the tires.
Seems like I remember tire issues last year at Texas as well.
9 total cars running. 7 on the lead lap.
Who's the race sponsor? The Ford Exploder/Firestone 500?
They did repave the track during the off season. Usually that screws things up. Makes the tire compound choice a little bit harder for the engineers.

That is funny on so many levels! That lawsuit was started in Texas.
And there in no mention of it in any google search.
Firestone is a powerful corporation!

Firestone did their testing back in April fwiw. RF tires were blistering after 30 laps, 35-38 laps were goners on many but maybe their set-up and driving harder on a new surface had an effect.
These guys drove like ten to go all race long, not single file racing many anticipated.
Those 30 lap cautions took something away at the end.
Yep the competition cautions took something away but it added tones of pit road drama an restart drama and in between it was 30 laps of two and three wide through the whole field. It was parade laps at 220 mph. Extremely exciting.
Who said open wheel cars can't run side by side. ?
These guys sure proved them wrong. Wow

It seems that Indy ovals are INCREDIBLE compared to Cup races and Cup road-courses are more fun than Indy ones.
Tristan Votier was impressive, too bad he got caught up in the big one.
Great race, and I don't normally watch these races, that may change. Ow...
