Hey ya’ll, I’ve reached the stage in my rebuild where it’s time to install the head. Due to Covid I was initially only able to get a Cometic head gasket which is .040 thick. I have recently procured an OEM .032” as well. So now the question is which one to use. The engine will be boosted, so I’m not looking to raise the compression. The block was decked .004”, bored to 83.5mm, and I’m using an 8.5:1 piston

This is probably splitting hairs, but since I have both I might as well use the best one for my application.

At 8.5:1, I'd run the thinner one. I'd hate to lose more compression unless you're building a dyno queen or drag car.
