Here I am, about to pull the trigger on a very predictable choice for me - something from the Volks who make Wagens to Get Tickets In... and for the same $28-30K-ish I can get a 300hp, 6-speed RWD coupe that looks sexy enough and gets 30mpg?

Part of me doesn't even think one should say Mustang unless it has a V-8, but that pops the budget to a new level and quickly becomes a (you-know-what) swinging contest.  I have not owned a domestic car since a '71 Satellite that I gave to my sister in 1978.  So let's talk about the 4-banger.

Is it as simple as clicking the Performance Package box and picking a color?

Does it have a chance in any SCCA autocross class?

Will I respect myself in the morning?

The Ecoboost Mustangs are fun but if your budget is $30k you can certainly get a v8 if you wanted to.

I see no fault in wanting one.

Not mine but one I would buy. Kona blue with PP...

The Mustang is just dead sexy these days, and the 4cyl and 6cyl are real performance cars, no doubt.  But you coulda had a V8 will haunt you forever.

Whah whah whawwwwww.

100 percent less Volvo content in this thread than I was expecting.

The one Stanger posted above looks good. Go drive one and see what you think..

I had thing I was going to say, but I really think TJ's closing advice covers the important bits without all my blithering. Do that before you make a decision.
