That car is bonkers and I love it.
Is 870lbs of lead a typo?

Also, how did that guy get a New Edge car down to almost 2300lbs?! Based on the pics, I can see that he's added a heavy torque arm, sub-frame connectors, a Watts link, super wide wheels/tires, lots of bodywork/aero aids and it still took 870lb of ballast to make the 3200lb minimum weight?
If it's possible to get a new edge car to 2300 I might need to rethink a few things.
Agreed. I have a hard time believing any SN95 with an interior weighs 2330 lbs. 87 lbs I'd believe.
Regardless, it's still a really cool car. I pass a black New Edge car on wide tires during my commute... it gives me bad ideas.

Yeah, Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s competition SN197 was something like 2700lbs and that had a body that was pretty much entirely thin fiberglass with no internal structure, no interior at all, no trunk floor, no metal structure ahead of the front shock towers and behind the rear shock towers
It doesn't have a "full" interior under all those panels, but pretty sure he only added 87 lbs to the spare tire well.
It was impressive watching him develop his car and his skills over the years. I remember battling with him in SM regionally back in 2013. He is wicked fast now. His current motor build is borderline insane. Can't wait to see him tear it up in Time Attack once he gets it going again.
He's currently destroying the competition in his Ecoboost Mustang DD.

I don't think in general that ROUSH cars are considered particularly collectible.
Brett replied to me on FB, the car did get down to 2300 but was not really usable that way. His usable weight is around 2700 and he did have to melt ballast into the framerails etc.

Mustang guys tend to go gaga over any special or limited-edition or tuner variant, so Roush's are considered collectible, moreso than a regular GT at least. Plus this is only 1 of 2 Roush cars built in that color.

Not really. There are some people that do, but the majority at this time don’t care. It’s another “tuner” car. If ford had produced it themselves, it might be a different story.
Weight, I’m impressed but not really. I know a body in white with just the minimalist to make nhra complaint still needed over 500# of ballast to make a 3200# with driver limit. That car still had power windows, steel fenders, steel doors, etc. I’m sure if I wanted to with the available lightweight parts and some creative ideas can get damn close to a 2200#, just not cheap.
Updated. We hear Brett has the Mustang back up and running again and look forward to what he does in 2020.
