Buying bushings for the whole front of the Javelin today. OE rubber or Prothane urethane?

Graphite used to be available too, but I can't seem to find it...

Do you care if it vibrates a lot at idle?

Check for binding issues using poly, but otherwise, poly rules IMHO

I've only had poly in an MGB, but I thought it was pretty worthwhile improvement. New rubber may have been just as good, but I kind of doubt it.

The big cam and sidepipes will make it do that anyways, so... no?

Upper A-arm, lower control arm, spring-over-shock above the A-arm, and strut rods. I have rubber strut rod bushings which should be the only binders in that setup?

In reply to Javelin:

This sort of thread comes up now and then, urethane being loved by a few and hated by more, right? Seems like a lot of installations of urethane turn noisy after time goes by.

What about Delrin?

They don't make those for an AMC.

My choices are:

  • Moog rubber
  • Prothane Urethane

That is what god made lathes for.

I've just never personally found a significant advantage in poly for a street car. For a race car, just uh, weld it to the frame or something.

You gonna make them for me?

I'm still trying to find the graphite ones that used to be made...

To bring some closure...

Rubber.

Apparently the 70+ AMC design doesn't work well with urethane, which is why 2 makers of it stopped already.
