The cheap crap seatcovers that came with my ZJ started tearing so I threw some inexpensive but decent looking covers. They suck too...turns out vinyl is still abad choice in GA summers plus they don't fit very well.

I've narrowed the custom covers down to two materials and I'd like to hear anyone's personal experience with them.

First 'ballistic nylon'  AKA cordura. Obviously tough but I'm concerned about it being rough on bare skin if wearing shorts. Some grades I've seen in other products arent bad, some are like sandpaper.

Second 'neosupreme' AKA knock off neoprene. Looks about the same but not waterproof. Main concern is looking cheap and not lack of durability, plus I've read it's a dog hair magnet.

I'd love to go Wet Okole but $160 for the above sets is better than $400 for the okoles.

Why not just fix the actual seat covers?  Three bills at lseat.com. Linky.

In reply to Dr. Hess :

Show me the ones for a 1997 Grand Cherokee Limited in tan and I'm on it.

Contact them.  If they don't have your model, they will take your existing seat covers to use as a pattern and make them for you.  Plenty of color options too.

Several issues with that. They cost double the ones I originally asked about, my existing seat covers are trashed, like missing big pieces, plus the truck would be out of service while they made the covers.

Does anyone have any experience with the stuff I originally asked about?

I think the Cordura would be bombproof, but pretty miserable to sit on.  It's rather stiff for a fabric, so I don't think it would be very comfortable anyway, and it will wear out your pants before it wears out.  I'm not sure how how it would get - it usually has a sort of waxy backing to it, which I can imagine heating up when left sitting for hours in the blazing sun.

Are the Grand Cherokee Seats the same as the Cherokee? Carhartt makes seat cover for that model year Wrangler and Cherokee. And they are nice covers I have been in a couple trucks with them and they seem to fit well and feel pretty sturdy.
