I think the point of this thread is not to show off size or complexity, but that GRMers are problem solvers.  =~ )

I love seeing solutions to problems. I don't follow this thread too closely, but I've used one of the ideas to make my Vanagon drivetrain pull SOO much easier because it was a good idea.

I've had a couple of people ask me about the cat lie detector, I might start a build thread for it just in case anyone else wants to give it a shot :)

Yeah, cool and all, but I was impressed with Uncle Dave telling his niece her eyes turned red when she told a fib.  Now Dad knows as soon as her eyes close .....

Some of my cars have bottoms of smooth aluminum sheet.  So, most jackstands require me to put something in between the jackstand and the bottom of the car.  Usually it involves small pieces of plywood and duct tape.   Ugly, and a pain, and then i have to remove them when i use the stands on other cars in the fleet.

Had some time off this afternoon to celebrate president's birthdays, so I threw together 4 of these.  They just drop on, don't slide off when I slide the stand under the car, and are padded.   Not show quality but Roger Penske isn't expected to visit.

Working on the sill plates for the 29. Still have final cleanup to do, but got the beads stamped, raised an oval for a badge in the sill and got the mounts squared away. Still have some final tweaking and some more metal finishing to go... but they're getting there.

For anybody paying attention... on the car. Sans screws. Holes are done. Just didn't put hardware in, as they'll be getting coated or painted shortly. Good use of $15 worth of aluminum...

Built it to put in a project, but sold the project. Don't want to part it out, realized the more covers, accessories, and wiring I took off, the better it looked - so, decided to make an "art piece" coffee table out of it. Modified a few things for aesthetic reasons, but it's still a complete, running engine.

Know anyone who wants to upgrade their mancave?

I've been building new cabinets for records and booze lately

I designed them in Fusion360 so I could have a complete BOM to make cuts from. Left hole is a speaker cabinet. This cabinet will have a mirror image cabinet next to it. Waiting on quartz tops now.

Hard to get a sense of scale from the pic, but we made a full-size Czech hedgehog this week. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_hedgehog

I've had the angle laying around for almost a year for this project...hard to ignore the Ukraine/Russia conflict with this...but I've always wanted to make one. Going to try to sell it to a Army Surplus or gun store.

6" angle 1/2" thick...this thing is beefy. Unfortunately,  2 determined scrappers/tweakers could probably get this on a trailer by hand or I'd put it in front of my shop.

Been slowly turning our useless sleeping porch into a small office for my wife!

Made some desk supports and rounded the edges (first time for me) so our toddler doesn't get cuts, and cut/welded the leg and 1/8" mounting plate today. It'll mostly not be seen but I think it'll look great!

Made a LiPo battery charging box. LiPo fires can burn your house down. Any easy solution is charging them sandwiched between two bags of sand or in a metal container. Bags of sand sand can get messy,  so why not combine the two?

Trim in the bathroom is complete. Just need to stain the door, caulk the trim at the shower and install the correct shower door when it's ready.

Did you do the printing on that sign as well?  What are the capabilities of your plasma table?  Steel thickness and tolerance?  There is a good chance I'll need some pieces cut this summer for a few projects on our farm.

If you ever see The Lookout Farm sign just down the road on Hwy BB, I built the structure for that one but had to buy the sign itself.

Sunday it was these little ramps (four total, will put two together to form a pair of 7.5" wide ramps)

Its not easy to get the jack under the MR2 as it is, and Im HOPING to put the newer, lower/longer front lip on it this week. So these SHOULD help get the jack under it

After doing the garage floor no the last house, we really like coated concrete.  We decided to stain the rear patio.  We let kiddo pick the color since neither the wife or I had a strong opinion.  Stain lets all the variation and flaws of the concrete remain but looks neat.  The clear adds strength and depth.  Water was beading this morning on the first coat of clear.  This is after the 2nd coat and it's cured enough to walk on.  It'll be fully cured in a few days.

I needed an easy way to keep my mountain bike from falling over in the garage.

The ceiling is too high for hooks and wall space is at a premium. Complicating things even further is the fact that this bike has really wide bars. I tried a few different storage stands, but they were either clumsy or still prone to tipovers.

I started thinking about a way to secure the end of the bar to the wall. I settled on a common, two prong wall mount with a PVC Tee zip tied to it. I added a 3 1/4" piece of PVC pipe to the tee. Then I ran a small piece of webbing with a buckle through the tee, and now I can quickly and easily slip the grip into the tube and secure the bike to the wall. All I need to do to release the bike is pinch the buckle and the strap drops out of the way and I can ride off.

Total investment was less than ten bucks; $3.75 for the Tee and $4 for the bracket. The strap was salvaged off of something else and was found in a basket on the wall right above the spot where I mounted the bracket
