So I'm well into the winter refresh of my vintage Vee.  While I've got the rear end blown apart, I thought about replacing the springs on my original Armstrong shocks.  They've got 100# 10" springs with a ID of 2.25" I'd really like to get some 100#, 2.25" ID springs with a free length of 7-9, but they seem to be pretty uncommon.  My main reason for changing is to allow more leeway for camber and height adjustments for different tracks as I'm still required to use a Z-bar and 2 rear shocks.

Does anyone have a source for something like this?

Thank you,

George-

Ground Control is an Eibach distributor and you can download the full Eibach catalog from their site to see if they have what you need.

I've had good luck with springs here Speedway Motors.  Their clearance section is also fantastic.

Hypercoil catalogue (https://www.hypercoils.com/wp-content/uploads/hyperco_catalog.pdf) doesn't show any 2.25" springs with rates that low, but they can do custom spring orders.

I just checked Eibach, they have an 8" 150 lb but nothing lower. I wonder if they have trouble with bowing sideways if they're any lighter?

AFCO has a pretty good selection, their parent company is Speedway Motors.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

I took a quick look at AFCO and didn't see anything that matched gcurl's specs, but it wasn't a real deep search.

I have seen 100-120 lb 2.5" springs for drag racing, but they're usually a foot long or more.

Larger diameter springs are less likely to bow, so it makes sense you might see the lighter rates in the bigger sizes.

I know there in the UK, but Merlin Motorsports lists a bunch of 2 1/4" ID springs, Faulkners is the manufacturer.

It is the 2.25" ID that is throwing me. QA1 and AFCO sprint car shocks use 2" ID and most others use 2.5. I have machined adapter rings to use 2.5" springs on 2" QA1 coilovers. Something similar should be easily doable for 2.25-2.5

60mm is 2.36", so those are also a possible.

Thanks for all the input.  The odd size it what's made them difficult to find.  I finally went ahead and ordered 8" springs from Merlin Motorsports.  I almost converted to 2.5" springs, but between the springs and adapters, I'm not keen on adding more weight to the rear of the car.  Not to mention, even with shipping from GB, the Faulkners are much more affordable.

Those springs look like they are Blue Coils; Suspension Spring Specialists.

I've bought from them; great customer service.
