In reply to eastsideTim : I sold a few race cars but the very best I did was get dimes on the dollars. Knowing that I hung onto the ones that really meant something to me until too late. Then I wrote off the over 3000 hours I’d spent and accepted 50 cents on the dollar for new stuff,
10 cents for rare used stuff and free for ordinary part of the car stuff.
This was on fantastic professional collector car grade car.
OK I took a massive hit. However a car like I finally sold for $27,000 is still for sale at more than 4 times the price. That’s more than a decade since. I sold at the depths of the recession now is likely the peak.
So if you really want it gone, sell it so cheap it hurts. Few have your vision and no-one wants to pay market price for it.
