Here's my Christmas present to you.

At Green Valley Raceway right here in DFW. Here are some pics from 1963. Since Carroll Shelby was a local there was no telling what new creation he'd bring.

Neat pictures. I wonder how effective some of those rollbars are though.

Fantastic! Thanks. I love Club Racing. I wonder if the "X" near the number meant then what it does now (novice permit holder).

What does the yellow tape on or near the right headlight signify?
Great Photos!

I am impressed with the number of cars that have plates on them. Drive to the track?

What is the blue car in the distance here?

The blue car and the red car are the same. Austin America or whatever it was called. Bigger mini.

There's a lot of Loti with banged up fiberglass in those pics.

In reply to chandlerGTi: Actually, I think it's a similar but earlier model, MG 1100, large square grille is the tipoff. ISTR that Austin America was 1968-69, I talked my dad into buying one that first year (he eventually forgave me).

Pretty sure you are right, couldn't remember if it was the 1100 or 1200; an the blue one looks like it may be a wolseley which looked alike and was direct competition. They all looked quite alike!

I've been told that it was one way some Regions marked that a car had passed tech inspection..but I don't know how accurate that is.

I was wondering about the yellow tape too. Tech inspection did occur to me, but... no offense to any decent, honourable, rules-following racers, but it seems like a system that's kind of open to abuse. ("Got that roll of yellow tape, Bob?" "Right here in the bag with the nitrous jets, Steve.")

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

I grew up listening to my mom and dad talk about working and hanging out at Green Vally. Mom worked timing and scoring and met Stirling Moss there.

Now I have pics to strengthen those memories.

Awesome!!

I also sent the link to them. I can't wait to hear what stories these pics will revive.

Pass them on.

Green Valley is the first place that I drove on a track. An XK 120 and a Bathtub Porsche.

Saw some very historic races there. I remember when the Cobras were brand new watching them cream everyone else. I knew about them, but people on the track seemed never to have seen them before. Maybe they just hadn't run in those classes or that many of them, I don't know.

I didn't even have a drivers license and already was a race car driver in my head.

Home movie footage of an SCCA National at Meadowdale, 1962.

A Production back then would have been like SCCA GT-1 now.
