If you're looking that close to new, I'd also check out a Pacifica. We really liked the base model rental we had back in November. Great powertrain/brakes/handling, and we liked the interior, as well.

I was reading this whole thread, thinking....man there must not be any tall drivers in this thread, cause that dead pedal/footwell area is a huge wtf for me too. Even if I loved the rest of the van, its damn near undriveable for me....at least for any distance.
Another vote for a Toyota sienna.
