Congratulations.
Awesome, What a Journey, Thanks For The Ride.
Congrats on the milestone! Excited for you at the Challenge this year since you have time to drive and tweak things beforehand.
Any vibrations at speed? I had to tweak my driveshaft angles after 1st test drive. Wasn't bad, but for an endurance racecar it was too much.
What's wrong with the brakes and alignment?
Good work!
No vibrations to speak of.
Brakes got spongey at the end, but another round of bleeding should take care of it.
Alignment: haven't done one. Its squirrely at speed.
Good for you. It's up and running, now comes the shakedown. It'll get there. Keep the sunny side up, you'll be fine.

So it will change direction quickly, sounds good for autox,
Confirmed correct 5500 rpm rev limiter tonight, and a working shift light.
Still doesn't seem quite right. Need to look harder for vacuum leaks.
Alignment and checking scrub lines with the 21 inch tall slicks tomorrow, as well as double check everything.
Still waiting for the registration to open for test and tune.
Maxed out at 2.5 degrees negative camber on the front, so i set the rear to negative one.
Vacuum leak at the rubber hose to booster connection.
Gopro knockoff mounted
Oil leak found.
they look stupid, and small.
But no safety concerns noted, so testing will tell if they stay vs the sm7 setup.
Avons are out.
Pretty significant dry rot/sidewall cracking on two. Wasnt obvious from the outside, as it was on the inner sidewall on 2. Dammit.
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
That sucks .Wish you could have at least gotten a chance to see how they'd run.
Agreed. But lifes too short and precious to risk on junk tires.
So, sm7 it is. Means paint may be out other than krylon though.
And yes, i could do rustoleum. But its way too much work to remove after the challenge when i want real paint.
AngryCorvair said:I heard that GM V6-swapped Miatas can’t do burnouts on Avons.
Absolute fact.
We would have to have solid video evidence to believe otherwise.
The last time i let someone talk me into an intentional burnout video, it cost me about a grand in clutch and bellhousing and trns parts.
So, maybe.

and if it's not, I'd wager there's room to convince 9 of your peers that it was a "moral imperative" to do the burnout for video, at the risk of blowing the clutch
In reply to sleepyhead :
If i’m on the jury it’s all good with me. I can only think of 1 team that would object if they’re there, but they are always in violation of the “don’t be a dick” rule in person and online. Because they’re dicks. Michael isn’t a dick.

recognizing that a) I haven't been to Challenge, and b) won't be there before 2021... I try and avoid 'absolutes' in my declarations
considering the above, they're probably the most likely to lodge the protest... which means they won't be on the panel. So, like I said, odds are good that everyone there is in agreement. If not, you just need to have the video of the burnout queued, with "I did this because the internet demanded it", and sleepyhead made a "Real Genius" reference... so it had to be a good idea
Got the last of the oil leaks stopped, i think.
Alignment done.
Ready for another test run.
But has an off idle hesitation. Also, when i lift to shift, it bogs getting back on it. Check engine light on for oxygen sensor. Haven't figured it out yet (upstream. Downstream tuned out of pcm) Smoke test shows no vacuum leaks. Neither did soap or ether testing. Fuel rail pressure at 43 psi at pump prime. All sensors appear normal with live data on my cheap obd2 scanner. Except for the o2 sensor staying at .450 volts. Im stumped. What do i look at next?
Shot in the dark but is your throttle body actually opening exactly when the throttle position sensor says it is?
Just checked that and mirrors I can tell that is not the case. Unfortunately while testing it has now decided that it's going to break up under light throttle. Going to drag it to my house this week so I can start chasing wiring and driveability like I did on the BMW
You'll need to log in to post.
