Yesterday, with ChandlerGTI's help, I got MY new-to-me tire trailer yanked out of the back of the Jeep. Got the wheels back on it so I can roll it around the shop.

I also did some spaghetti-sorting on the Atomic Hairball. The guy who originally turbo'ed the car used the stock ECU with a Link piggyback. He also did a complete hatchet-job on the wiring.

I was able to figure out his cobbled IAT sensor setup, as well as trace the old vacuum source for the Link so I can eliminate that and run the new hose to the MAP on the standalone. Small victories!!!

With the wife's help, removed the sway bar and front track bar from the YJ and tossed them in the scrap pile. The rear is going to be a pain because it had ripped off the frame at some point and they reinstalled the bracket with a welder and welder the bolt as well. Gonna have to cut it apart.

Recycled 5 more gallons of oil and cleaned more of the garage. Moved my toolbox to the back. Got out the old Focus wheels that are going to go on a friend's Fiesta ST so he can put snows on the stock wheels and race it at rallycross nationals. He has the snow tires, he has the new wheels for road tires, now he just needs the car. Put a new battery in my wife's FJ which means I can use her old battery for Fergus so he can live again. I want to drive him, but it's really hot.

It's sort of a "sprockets" project, but I fabbed the motor mounts for my GSXR 750/Yamaha Warrior project, and they turned out really nice, almost a factory look for the most part, especially after it's all powder coated. Also figured out how I'm going to mount the oil cooler, and simplified my plans for the fuel system which will now need to have an electric pump, whereas the old Gixxer was gravity feed. Pretty satisfying day actually. The project's been sitting for several months with zero progress.

Finally finished up the oil seal for the pick up tube on the 928. Simple little seal. Not so simple of a job - involved lifting engine, removing steering rack, 1/2 the front suspension, sway bar and oil pan. Also noticed the old oil level sender had disintegrated - leaving bits of metal and plastic in the sump. All back together and working so I consider it a small miracle. Those Germans don't make it easy, but in some sense, things were eventually accessible and got a little bit of faith restored about the complicated projects. Next up - clutch for the e36 and get the MG going under its own power.

About 190 miles of driving around Watkins Glen in the Mini. For the record, you can fit three cases of wine in the boot.

Almost 400 miles total since I left home on Wed and mpg has been in the upper 30's. I'll top it off this morning before heading over to the air museum for the Tour de Marque start.

My fiancée and I drove the F100 out of her home in the garage and pulled the Met in. Soo much room to work! It's amazing.

I donated about a pint of blood in the first 20minutes on a rusted bolt breaking so we wrapped it up in a rag and electrical tape. I finished the next few hours with two immobile fingers. She didn't believe me but I poured salt in them when we got to the house... Works everytime to clean and take out the grease.

We took out the door panels and entire interior including seatbelts and seats.

Time to jack it up. Scrape the floorboards cut out the rust. Weld it all up. Grind and clean then fiberglass for sound deadening and rigidity. Then to the exterior.

I learned also that working with a girl is awesome in that every nut and bolt is labeled in zip locks and containers... Stuff I always wished I'd done. Also that she is pretty hardcore on an impact, not so much on a grinder...

Also she is now fully aware of how much work/trouble this cute fun little project is going to be. She laughed at me for spending 3 years of weekends on a truck. Her timeline was like a week... Now it's a realistic 'winter' project. I'm not working on it without her, this is her project. I walked away from it and honestly was not going to buy it. She started crying and thousands of dollars and 6 months later I'm laying here bleeding into my pillow with another restoration project underway.

Finished up a 6x12 single axle utility trailer with drop axle and brakes. Going to weigh it tomorrow to see how much I can put on it and not overload the 3500# axle but I'm betting it will haul an Opel with capacity to spare.

Finished taking out patches from previous owner in floorboards... I seriously began to wander if I was ripping out patches or cutting out the original floorboard as the patches were larger. They were a combination of screw ins weld ins and rivet mixed with fiberglassed in. Holy crap. I may just put in plexi-glass and have a see through floor.

I got it all cut out. Now I'm busy all weekend with family. I'm going to day dream and obsess over cleaning it up epoxying it all and welding in new patches.

Thrashed on the Valiant last night so I could take it to Coffee and Cars this morning. She fought a little bit. Blowing off the lower radiator hose after midnight during a test drive made for a long night. There are still some loose ends, but the new aluminum radiator is in and temperatures look good.

Coffee and Cars was good, if not as well attended as some months. Among my favorites: a friend's Packard Clipper with a straight-eight, a '64 Studebaker Cruiser (289 V8), a nice '66 Mustang fastback, and (drumroll, please) ... a freshly restored '64 XKE. One of my lifelong dream cars.

There were three or four inline sixes - my Valiant, the Jag, and at least one of the two '50 Chevies - and three '64 model cars (Valiant, Studebaker, Jag). Mine was the only Chrysler product.

Damn dude, are you alright, did you get all excited after spending time with Wheels.

I worked on lightening the Rustang today, removed the steel rear bumper, drilled a bunch of holes in the OEM aluminum one. I also located some aluminum scrap to replace the OEM bumper shocks with brackets.

Just ordered some gauges a few minutes ago. It will be nice to know what the hell is going on with that giant hunk of iron out front.

Just got home from the Watkins Glen Vintage Festival. Five days and over 800 miles of driving my '64 Mini. Over than a "user error" episode where I ran out of gas in the middle of town and had to push it into the Sunoco station, the car ran fine.

Need sound insulation. I wore ear plugs for the 100 mile drive down the PATP at 65 mph and my ears are still ringing.
