Thinking about picking up another set of wheels for my new-to-me '04 Focus - other than Foci, what other vehicles have the same pattern and similar offset?

Off the top of my head: Fox Body Fords, Euro Capris, Mustang II/Pintos, Xr4ti, Ford based escorts, Contour/Mystique, Porsche 924

Don't know about offsets however.

The new Fiesta is one.

The vortex has a whole classifieds section for 4x108.

In reply to RossD:

Is the offset going to work between the Fox or Capri and a Focus? I know that Escort wheels won't clear Capri struts because of the high positive offset.

I had Fox Body Mustang rims and Mustang II rims on a '77 Capri. Both seemed to work. I still have the Capri Rims and could probably get you some measurements if you'd like.

The rims I can measure: For sale by the way.

I had Fox Mustang rims on my mk1 Capri, I'm just speaking from experience when I went looking for a cheap +1 size change. And my Capri hasn't moved in a decade so I'm really not in need of anything for it right now.

I would bet that the Escort, Contour and Focus the OP are talking about have similar offsets so if I were him I'd look there first before checking out the Fox or similar platforms.

I'm reading offset should be in the 40-50mm range. Time to check out the vortex link, thanks.

Saab 900, 88-93 (+94 convt.) and all Saab 9000s. Offsets are about 30-40mm. Hubs are very slightly larger than a Focus.

I thought this would a good sticky as 4 x 108 is not the most common pattern.

To follow up: The reason why 4 x 108 is not a common pattern is because its use is more for european applications hence another addition is made for our focaljetters across seas.

Ford Escorts (1991 and up) are 4 x 100.

Cougars have the same lug pattern I think.

I believe the Mazda platform Escorts were 4x100. The Cougars were always on a Ford platform and if they are 4 bolt rims (ie not MN12), they should be 4x108. At least thats what my internetin' skillz tell me.

All 1980-1982, 1983-1986, and 1987-1988 Ford Thunderbird's and Mercury Cougar's are 4x108 (more correctly called 4x4.25"). Those are all fox-chassis derivatives.

My buddy has wheels on his FWD cougar that he bought from a GRMer that had them on his Focus.

The MN12 Cougars were the only ones between 1980 and now that didn't have 4x108. They were 5x108. When the FWD Cougar came out on the Contour platofrm, it was 4x108 indeed.

I dunno how FWD Cougars and fox-chassis Cougar's got mixed up in this posting, but the aforementioned MN12 Thunderbirds and Cougars were 1989-1997 and had a horrific 5x108 or something like that bolt pattern.

I don't know squat about any FWD cars, so go ahead on those cars without me. Thanks!

I think Caterhams use that pattern as well. You know, just in case you find one in the junkyard

Any with a +45 to +50 offset will work with no problems. +40 to +45 will work depending on the width of the rim and tire. +30 to +40 will probably need some fender rolling to clear.

Heh. That's mainly because a lot of them use European Ford parts and 4x108 is pretty much the bolt pattern for older Fords in Europe.

That explains why Saab used it?

Saab used the Ford V4 Taunus engine. Maybe they used more parts than just the engine...like suspension components and wheels...

Just a thought...

Does that mean that focus wheels would fit a SAAB c900 with minor machining? That would be awsome!

Bob, got your email and just PM'd you back.

Can anyone ID these 17" ARE wheels?
