My Dad builds AMC V8's for everything from 100% concours perfect restorations to wild drag cars, and he built this one for himself (and his new car, yet to be revealed). It's a 1970 AMC 390 that he completely redid, all forged rotating assembly, full roller valvetrain, girdles, tons of head and port work, twin 850's, etc because it has a Dyers 6-71 supercharger on it! This thing makes 800HP. Have a listen:

I like anything Mad Max-esque.

In fact, one of my favorite cars is still the Mod Max that MCM built.

That’s pretty cool and definitely different which makes it awesome. I sent that video to a guy I know from dirt racing here who builds racing and street engines in his spare time. He has a bbc powered amc street car.

Oh and I should mention that the car and the engine are about 30 minutes from GRM HQ...

Please be a Gremlin, please be a Gremlin, please be a Gremlin....

Very cool to see, I love Pontiacs and seeing anyone build up an American engine that ISN'T a Ford, Chevy or Mopar is very cool.

That looks and sounds great!  AMC power to the max!

I hate to disappoint you, but it's not a Gremlin (that said the family has more than one 401-swapped Gremlin sleeper, so they are near and dear my heart).

Oh, that's interesting! I'm sitting in my living room right now, which is "about 30 minutes from GRM HQ."

Or as I like to sometimes call it, The Mothership.

You have no idea how close you are! I'm trying to find a nice copy of that ad for him, too.

Don't think I'd be standing anywhere near that engine (or any other) when it was being dynoed - I've seen internal bits come through the block when they blew!

Nice to see a different engine than usual.

How would that blower setup in the ad/commercial work?  I don't see carbs, so were there carbs hidden in a dummy blower?

Fuel injection.  See the lines just under the bug catcher?  Fuel gets dumped in there.

Mechanical fuel injection. The lines are under the hat. Probably an Enderlie unit.

Nah.  Madison Avenue circa 1969.  It’s probably just a mock up.  I can’t imagine Don Draper thinking that hard about it.

How short would the injector unit have to be to actually fit between the bug catcher and the blower?  Unless it's in the bug catcher?
