Dang, that looks in good shape from the outside. The wife and I want to convert a schoolie and drive around the continent with the kids for a year, but this would have so much more character. And breakdowns...

Silversides. Rare to see one not converted to an RV and still with the grey dog logo. Being with other vintage busses it would not be cheap.

They are very robust. Once it is gone through it would be very reliable just as it was hauling passengers cross counrty.

What sort of engine/trans do these things have in them? Would a repurposing/overhaul justify replacing with a more up-to-date power unit? If that's even possible practically, let alone from a cost perspective?

What kind of mileage do these things get?  Diesel is kind of expensive...

Based on the Ytube guys bus (also a Silverside) it's a 6-71 Detroit Diesel with a manual transmission.

Fun fact: I grew up in a '48. Lived in it for 12 years traveling the country with my parents.

Doesn't have the original taillights. I wonder if that was a "movie" bus? I really can't believe that's the original Greyhound paint job.

Windshield wipers were powered by compressed air. They either barely moved or attempted to fling themselves off the bus.

Love the shot of the Trailways Gold Eagle.  I have very good memories sitting behind my dad, or on the steps if the bus was full, driving between Salt Lake and Elko, or Rock Springs.

I wonder if this fleet might be for movie/tv use. They all look to be wearing their original livery.

I rode on one of those trailways busses quite a few times.
