If this guy has to scrimp this hard to buy a truck, how will he ever pay for the gas?

A frugal, bank-wary Cincinnati man plunked down $8,000 in coins for a $16,000 Chevrolet Silverado. It took employees at the dealership 90 minutes to count the change James Jones had stashed in 16 coffee cans.

He and his wife did relent and pay the rest with a check.

..except the Coinstar's not free and their take of $8,000 would be no small chunk of... change...

Typical Coinstar charge is like 9 to 10% or roughly $800. I would not pay it.

One would think he would learn,

after his old one ran him down?

Maybe it's time to haul all the change to a Toyota dealer?

Maybe he was pissed at the Stealership.

There was a cranky woman that ran a snack bar at work, MISERABLE! I won't regale you with stories here, but because of it, we adopted "Penny Wednesday". Everything was paid for with pennies.

I saw 2 dealership commercials this morning, one Ford and one Dodge, offing 1/2 off od MSRP on their full size trucks.

$14K for a nicely equipped F150 Crew Cab. DAMN!

I've seen that too. I wondered what the catch was.

Close by dealer and a client of ours has Full size Dodge pickem up trucks (I hate that term) for under $10,000.

The catch is that they have them by the lots full. They're trying to give them away to make room for something that sells. And it costs most dealers floor plan fees to keep them anyway, so I imagine they're cutting their losses with both sides taking a hit; dealerships and manufacturer.

Even our Toyota dealer has lines of Tundras unsold.

Gwinnett Place Ford and Palmer Dodge had 1/2 price advertisements back to back.

Being the cheap bastard I am, if they are advertising 50% of MSRP, I'd have to offer them 40% just on principle.
