How would that effect whether subroutines run or not?
There's a "void subroutine();" line (followed by the code)
and a "subroutine();" line
Why would libraries have anything to do with that? (besides, I have installed the libraries called early in the code).
If that is the reason, that's a pretty bad reason- the code is only compatible being equal, but not with newer libraries?

You'd need to post the actual code in question.
The library thing is a guess. I've noticed that the Arduino community seems to have a lot of cases of libraries getting forked but not renamed, so it can be difficult to know which version of a library the person who wrote the sketch had installed in order to replace that build environment.

Huge shout out to ProDarwin, he shipped me a box of goodies! An Ardunio, lots of components and a intro book. Thanks again!!
Time to get to work!
Please keep us posted on your progress. I have an idea and parts for a project that will likely earn me millions.
If I only knew how to program it...

Heck yes!!! That would be awesome if you don't mind.
Basically the project is to use an accelerometer as in input to control a servo motor.
I'll split the first million with you
