For the same price you could own 4 Mustangs.

We were there, too!  That Futureliner sure was cool.  I'd never seen one in person before.

two weeks ago this was three 50' tall Bradford pears.  Good riddance.

I'm not surprised you made that choice.

Spotted this while walking the other day.

Learn to fly. It'll make that Moto GP photo seem boring.

I'm a pilot, so of course I'd post the Sierra Hotel equivalent.

But assuming you lived through the crashes, you'd have three practices to get it right! :P

The "for that price, you could own four P51s" has got to be the most compelling anti-supercar argument I've ever heard.  Sincerely, thank you for that Appleseed.  Brought a huge smile to my face.  Here's me giving a thumbs up:

Awesome photo, since I can do one of my favorite pastimes when I'm flying: looking at horse tracks. It's been many decades since I've been to Saratoga, but I'll make a couple of assumptions.

I don't know if the harness track and thoroughbred track are as close together as the two tracks in the picture. If so, the thoroughbred track is on the lower right of the image with the harness track up and to the left.
The differences that might be visible are that the thoroughbred track is a mile long and has a dirt surface, the harness track is a half mile and has a grey stone dust surface.
Edit: you can also see the starting chute (extension of the front stretch) on the thoroughbred track. Vernon Downs, a 3/4 mile harness track between Utica and Syracuse had a chute once, but no longer.

I realize that this is interesting to no one other than me, but it's such a powerful moment of reminisce that I can't help it.
I love NY State, especially upstate.

Obligatory photo slightly related, Rolls Royce Merlin Assembly line...

I'm easily bored so I enjoy the challenge of staying up (5.7hrs.) with no engine.  If you actually want to GO somewhere, engines are the best!

I just sold a Grob 109.  Cruises at 120kts. with a variable pitch prop, roomier than some small aircraft and a 27:1 glide if something goes amiss.

Seeing an Apple sponsored race car makes me sad.  Only because I wish the tech crowd was more into motorsports and started a huge sponsonsorhip boom like the tobacco companies did years ago.  There have been a few, like the Bitcoin Indycar and Dogecoin Nascar, but those seem to be more enthusiast sponsored than company backed.  I mean the sheer money behind Apple, Amazon, FB, Twitter, Google, et. al. could bring us back to bigger events.

Along that lines, I'm kinda keeping an eye on the EV racing developments as I see them backing those.  Wonder if Tesla (or why they haven't) dived into Formula E and how they might shake it up.
