Not sure of the car, but the background is Bryar if it is east coast. Me in red hat, photo by Mom, Pop's Taraschi is ready to unload. EMRA 1977
I just had this guy fly over my house (the actual plane, but not my pic of course). It's based out of Washington. No idea why it's in SoCal.
I was in the backyard and heard it, and it went something like this: "plane, interesting noise", "clearly a twin", "with some power", "hey, that sounds like a P-51 a little", "but double...", "is that a freakin' Mosquito!".
I could not see the outline well (but I did note what looked like an eliptical tail plane), but in checking ADS-B, yup, a Mosquito. Probably at the CAF base at the airport (Camarillo), which does have a Spitfire XIV, so maybe a photo shoot? (hopefully something movie related...)
This is their Spitfire XIV:

She's a racing driver. I know because left foot braking.

I've driven one of those. It drove like a cross between a bitchy chainsaw and a dumptruck... until you got north of 70 mph. Then it made sense. Still made sense at 140.

It must be the 67 yo in me but I'd take the Plymouth, no question. I'd have to expand the size of my garage but whatever.
When I was in my early 20's a good friend had one of those Plymouths. I did some work to it, cam, carb, headers and exhaust. It was way faster than you would expect from a beast that size. But just as comfy.
There's always that one guy. At least around here there is. No matter how cold, somebody is wearing shorts
