For some reason I thought their first album was older than that. I was never big into them, but always loved the album covers.

Ooh, memories of my 1st trip in the Navy to a friend's house on a long weekend.  Getting in his old truck and firing up "Running Free" while driving country roads bordered by corn fields on either side.  No cares, just "running free".

Always been a fan, saw them in concert around 1989 or so.  Good stuff.

As a bassist, I am practically obligated to be a Maiden fan. I'd still be a fan regardless, but Steve Harris has chops for DAYS.

My son or I will be trying out a riff (Powerslave is a great example) and be doing ok until Steve totally jumps the shark.

Iron Maiden makes up a majority of my rock playlist. I didn't realize their first album came out that long ago. Super cool.

In the early days, were they punk or metal? (Answer: yes.)

I need to blame/thank my friend Steve for getting me into Maiden. We met my freshman year of college. Our common link was Suicidal Tendencies.
