We already had a vacation planned to the north Georgia mountains. Now it looks like it may hook into north georgia after making landfall.

Screw it, we're going anyway.

What part? My shop is in Blue Ridge. The whole gang is signed up for Radical SR1 school at AMP on Monday...which is now looking more like hanging at the garage, beveraging.

We're in Dahlonega. Planning on hitting some wineries and exploring some forest service roads with a stop at the Sasquatch Museum. We moved everything up a day. We came up today and will drive home Sunday. Our home area (macon) is supposed to get windy Sunday evening into Monday.

I thought the wine was ok at Monteluce but the food was great. Get the cinnamon rolls or doughnuts for sure. It’s a pretty piece of land for sure .

I like the wine at Three Sisters best, but The Cottage has the best views. Never been impressed with Monteluce's products but it is gorgeous.

This morning on the radio on the way in, they said it's dropped to a Cat 2 and may weaken further?

Not sure, I haven't started reading the news just yet. My eyes are barely open.

That might not be a good thing... it'll be a repeat of Harvey.  And my understanding is that red-clay isn't known for its holding power when inundated?

If there is one constant to hurricanes. They can not be predicted.

Ignore the news if the storm is more than a week out. They are spouting off to fill air time and 99% of what they say is just wrong. Even 24 hours out they are just guessing, and they aren't even good guesses. SWAG at it's best.

So, do you want to see what a hurricane looks like?

This is the Frying Pan Shoals Tower web camera.

This camera is on a old light tower tower 34 miles off the coast of North Carolina at the mouth of the Cape Fear River.  http://www.fptower.com/ The tower used to be a Coast Guard Light tower but is currently a bed and breakfast. It's for sale if you are interested.

The cam from Topsail is interesting.  It is a guys home security cam.  If you watch the chat, the owner, Jim, is chatting.  He said he said the house is on 8ft stilts.

When Sandy slammed Staten Island in 2012, we were lucky.  Lost a tree, that missed everything on its way down, and parts of my stockade fence.  Less than a mile from us got completely flattened.  Hope all are safe, and don't get too much damage.  My thoughts are with you guys.

Just a warning, if you click the link, turn your speakers down, first.  It's flippin loud!  I've been watching it this morning and it's fascinating to see the weather pick up and drop down a bit and pick back up.

Late breakfast, now it's nap time. Looks like the only thing I'm going to get out of this hurricane is a little vacation.

Unfortunately, the autocross I was planning to attend next weekend is getting nuked at the moment.

Hoping all the people that are actually being affected are doing OK.

Exactly! It's not like a tornado where you may have no warning. We literally had a 'nader touch less than a mile from the house about 6 weeks ago, we weren't even under a tornado watch, no warning, no sirens, no nothing. We didn't even know it happened until we saw it on the new a bit later.
