I like this game, my cousin came upon this while hiking just west of GR, MI.
any thoughts? I guess there's a pile of 40's era car (parts) and appliances nearby.

Good question. Any pictures of casting marks etc available?

Right-side starter pocket is most unusual for the era. Usually the starter was on the left side so that the driver could mechanically engage the starter contacts with a foot pedal.

My first thought is 223 Ford but it doesn't have the correct side cover shape. Or a side cover at all... very odd.

edit - I see now that it used to have a side cover that extended up to cover the head, and the pushrods are simply rusted away. Far out. I wonder how the spark plugs were sealed.

Might be from a RHD car

Well since it's an OHV inline six and not a flathead, I'm gonna say it's post WW2. But the fact that the clutch opening in the bellhousing is on top is sorta weird. So I'm gonna say this is from a 50s or 60s tractor. The engine looks interesting.

Found it.

GMC 216.

Note the linkage going behind the bellhousing to the starter...

I'm going to have to make a hike out there this week. Hopefully some cool stuff buried in there.
