I bought a Fire 8 HD tablet as an impulse buy on Prime Day.  I was thinking that I could put some programs on it to use as a scanner for my BMW, and maybe also to tune my other car's Megasquirt.  The problem is, I need to figure out how to actually do this.  I'd like to nuke the Amazon bloat, including lock screen, and basically make it a generic Android tablet.  Any tips?

Basically, you have to sideload the Google Play Store on it, then you can install whatever you want. I forget the procedure, but I did it on mine when I bought it a couple of years ago, and it was pretty easy. Just Google it.

Honestly, it's pretty damn hard to beat the Fire tablets for the money. Especially for the prices they were offered on Prime Day.
