The Bluebirds are nice but if I'm going that big it's going to have air ride and the engine out back the way God and GM intended.

That's an original blood mobile or something similar. The rear door is for traffic flow.

Conversions are always going to be viewed as wannabe's and difficult to sell. That is the price we paid for our original Wanderlodge.

There is a wander lodge in our local paper for sale; no price listed.

The Wanderlodge is on my radar, but it's too dear. I've found a GMC runner not too far away for approximately my runner budget, but I think I'm going to skip it. I've learned that the ceiling height is one inch greater than my height. I have to be able to stand comfortably, or its no deal. I'd go for it if the goal was a vacation/tailgating/Mardi Gras support vehicle.

If you change your mind on the GMC this one just popped up in St Pete for $4K with only 37,000 original miles.

GMC Transmode - Airforce Command Center

Really? Air Force Command Center?
Fiction is more real than thought...

I would advise a test drive, followed by a test drive of something with a diesel in the back, that rides and stops on air. It may or may not make enough of a difference to help you decide whether to get one of these or something else or nuthin a'tall. These two testdrives pushed me into what I have now, which is the 2nd of the above testdrives...
they have a 455 Olds "Rocket" powering the front wheels... i'd think that a 500 Caddy wouldn't be too hard of a swap- and 500 torques is 500 torques regardless of whether they are made with a spark plug or from the heat of compression...

I think its Corky Bell's turbo book that highlights a turbo cad 500 into a GMC. The swap is easy, and the later, low compression 500s are just begging for a small turbo.

The transverse TH425 tranny should be firmed up before that though.

I think some years/models came from the factory with the Olds 445 and others the Cadillac 500. Either lifted from the Toranado or Eldorado
