Well, ignoring that whole Artemis thing that's sucking up billion$ right now anyhow. And all the moon probes that have been launched recently. It's just that the Mars robots get all the attention because they're just doing such a great job.

This is now about Mars rover memes.

I love that the rovers have social media accounts and they tag each other. They're doing a fantastic job of engaging people.

Also, you missed one.

Thanks, that was an absolutely fantastic compilation. Deliberately not posting a meme.

No meme here, but a very deep, heartfelt thanks for posting all of these Opportunity tributes.  I got my masters in geology from Northern Arizona University in 1971, and my first job in my federal career was at the US Geological Survey's Center for Astrogeological Studies in Flagstaff.  I was fortunate to be among those working with the early Mariner photos, and got to do one of the photogeologic maps for one of the candidate Viking landing sites.  It was an exciting time,  My career took me in other directions, but I have always been deeply interested in planetary geology, particularly Mars.  It moves me deeply to see the outpouring of interest and support for this rover, and for the program in general.  Thank you all for posting these tributes.

I *know* it's last message was just a preprogrammed line of text in response to inputs from a thermocouple and a voltmeter. I *know* it.

But it doesn't matter.

This is a thing that bugs me with SciFi enemies. Humans didn't become scary because we're big, or strong, or fast, or stealthy, or have deadly natural weapons. We got scary because we don't have *any* of that, and so we got creative and ruthless instead.

Lest we forget the people that actually did all the work to keep their machine in operation well past its expected lifespan. I'm more inclined to applaud the designers, not the bits and bobs.

Watch as one man nails Johnny Cash, Ozzy, Frank Sinatra, and many more, in one song, one take.

(srsly he sounds more like most of the people he mimics than the people themselves.  I hate Megadeth but I would listen to him doing any song in their style)
