Second time in a year I've had a spark find it's way past my safety glasses and scratch my eye.

So this got worse yesterday, had a rough night trying to sleep last night, and we're loading the riggamort + family today to start our drive South. Luckily I can get some prescription antibiotic/numbing drops today, but I should have gotten them yesterday instead..

If it's getting worse, you probably have the spark stuck to your eye.  Numbing drops may just make it worse.  Go see your optometrist, they will generally look at eye injuries on an emergency basis.

Ask me how I know.

Metal flake and rust ring removed from my eye. berkeley that wasn't fun, now to load the trailer..

It would have been even less fun tomorrow.

I cannot tell you how many times I was told, as a kid, watch out for your eyes.  You only get two of them.  That has stuck with me, but not nearly as much as giving up trying to sleep and heading to the ER at 2:30am.  It's one of those things that I can ignore through the day, but laying in bed...

It was my one experience with the eyeball die grinder in the ER that convinced me that I needed to be more careful about eye protection.  Not a fan of the eyeball die grinder...

Sounds like you guys need to make the jump to gasketed safety glasses like I did.

$9.77/ea currently. AMAZING protection, only slightly more prone to fogging than the open kind. I don't wear them 100% of the time, but whenever I'm under something or grinding or doing really spark/debris prone stuff you know I'm reaching for these.

I got ran off the road... again.

I was on my way to work and traffic was typical for a weekday afternoon. I was in the right lane of a 2 lane road with traffic all around. There is an old dude in a white 4 Runner in the left lane just ahead of my car. As traffic in front of me speeds up, I end up next to him just as he decides to change lanes. He obviously didn't see me and just kept coming over in my lane. Luckily, there was a right turn lane and a wide shoulder so I just swerved to the right and got out of the way.

I'm so berkeleying tired of the E36 M3ty drivers here. I have a close call about twice a week.

I have a 60 mile a day commute, which is crushing my soul. I swear it wasn't this bad when I lived here before from 2010-2014.

Dashcam video from the incident today:

I didn't see his turn signal as it was behind my a-pillar. He just moved right over and I had to take evasive action.

One reason I despise the newer cars, A pillars are way too large.
On many cars they are also steeply angled to block even more of our vision.

I expect the A pillars are huge for roll over protection. They blocked a lot of vision in my '96 Dodge truck, not so bad in my newer truck and cars.  I think windshield shape & size has a lot to do with how much the A pillar interferes with vision.

Volvo had an awesome solution to this. Unfortunately, it was perceived as unsafe, despite it being stronger in a rollover situation than a solid A pillar, so it never made it to production.

You said the pandemic was fake.

You complained about the masks.

You said the vaccines are a conspiracy or the mark of the beast or some other bullcrap.

You complain that nobody takes personal responsibility anymore.

I won't even mention what you said when I brought up the fact that my daughter died from a virus - which, incidentally, I had a lot of debt from and still am carrying to this day but I haven't asked a soul for monetary help.

Now you have medical debt out your eyeballs and you're begging for money via gofundme? Get the berkeley out of here. You decided to be irresponsible - you could have worn masks, could have gotten the vaccine, could have taken a tiny little bit of personal responsibility, but nope. You're an idiot.

Should have unfriended this person years ago. Finally did it.

I'd assume a-pillar airbags would make that an impractical solution nowadays.  I'd really like it if someone would actually produce the screens on the pillar feature that someone (I think Jaguar) experimented with years ago.  I know the image would be a little distorted, but it'd pretty much completely eliminate the blind spot.

Also, blame side curtain airbags, a lot of which deploy from the A-pillar.

Seriously. At least two cars in the last round of shopping got ruled out as soon as I sat down. We were headed out for a test drive and just didn't bother. (Volt, C-Max)

We were looking to replace the Leaf, a vehicle in which my wife and I each had to point hidden surprises out to the other from the passenger seat.

This is not what safety looks like.

And will someone please get the current gen F-Series headlights off my lawn?

Ongoing rant:  insurance companies.

We're now on the third valuation for my trailer, all of which have been at least 40% under market value.  They continue insist on basing the valuation on a comparison to a model trailer that retails for several thousand dollars less, before any options.  They continue to ignore the numerous comps I've uploaded.  I still get to talk to a new representative every time I call (#14 this morning)....  it's like Groundhog Day.

I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter who insures you.  Just get the cheapest rate you can, because they're all going to do everything in their power to delay, deny and utterly berkeley you over if you make a claim.

My wife got us a foster dog. I was not consulted for this. I'm the one who works from home. She is a good dog, but she is distracting. She is also high energy. She is not the right dog for us. But my daughter is in love with her. My wife is too.

I am angry that my wife did this, honestly. It is throwing all sorts of wrenches into our plans. I don't think she thought through everything.

Also, a gigantic berkeley you to people who are able but unwilling to get a covid vaccine. You're making our lives more difficult than they need to be, because you're selfish.
