Shopped at the Goodwill store in Manhattan. Scored a $1300 handmade in brooklyn Martin Greenfield suit for $30. Fits almost perfect, just need to hem the legs.

On my way to pick up the cheap Buick Reatta today (another story), I ended up accidentally taking a different route than last time I went over.

Side of the road was a snowblower, little bit rusty and sure it had flat tires, but after some research I've turned up that it's a Simplicity 21" (marked 55cm) and, with a new spark plug and gas lines, could be worth selling! It's definitely overkill for the size of my driveway..

My win is that in my location I should never find a snowblower beside the road.

Arugula update:

Not bad at all! tonight was the first sample. Grilled pollock over a bed of spinach and arugula with a dab of yogurt low fat bleu cheese on the side.

Had a professor leave me a 3 month research project  to have done in 3 weeks, so my internet time is a bit limited till I finish, so still working on all of the great info you set up for me.

Working on getting the wife on board also. BTW, she says that arugula looks and tastes like dandelions. I told her that a  lot of people eat dandelions. She's not on board yet.

Info please??

My last pole saw went up in flames, literally! Think it was a Poulan, started smoking, let it cool off, started back up, smoking immediately, said Berk It!, kept the trigger pulled and next thing I know I looked like I was carrying the Olympic Torch through the yard.

Out of town date night with TM we drove up to Cincinnati to see Rhiannon Giddens live at an amazing little venue (550 seats). If you haven’t heard of RG, you need to give her a Pandora channel and listen for a couple hours.  Just an amazing voice and talent!!

And being extra decadent, we got a hotel room instead of going home after.  Kid free evening wink

I was riding my bike to work today and hit some gravel mid-corner and started to slide out.  By some miracle I managed to save it - so today's minor win is that I am at the office, and not at the ER with road rash or worse. I didn't even need to change my underwear, which is icing on the cake.

The monster is gone!!!  That difficult, ill handling, loud, cranky beast belongs to someone else!   I traded my 5.0 challenge cost 93 Miata for an ecotec swapped ‘99 and $2,000.  Essentially my winter effort has netted me a free car.  VMax coilovers, FM sways, generic race seats, roll bar.  I’m a happy guy.

Went out to grab something and saw that from this angle, dang the car looks mean, and not just average.

I think I sold my Alfa racecar!  Which is really cool to start with.

Better is that I sold it to someone I've known for a long time.

Best is that I KNOW he's going vintage racing with it!!!

Worth the wait, that's for sure.

Despite a somewhat unsuccessful house hunting trip, I signed a new lease on my home for the next year! More space, nicer than my current apartment and it has a garage and a fenced in yard to boot.

Now to just figure out when exactly I'm actually moving....

Two things today...

I mentioned our local lumber yard in the Minor Rant thread- not for them, but for Lowes and HD, who charge more money....

Lumber was delivered today.  I'm always going to get lumber from Fingerle.  To start with, they have superior lumber, second is great service (both just to work with and great delivery, and third- they are cheaper for all of that than the big box stores.  Stunning is such a great way.

Second- picked up a 20W solar panel I found on Craigslist.  Thought this advertiser just somehow got them, and resold them.  Nope.  Not at all- they are a renewable energy company who makes their own panels!  And all but the resistors in the charge controller come from someplace in the US.  Small manufacturing is NOT dead!  If you are also in SE MI and are interested- http://dehdenergy.com/index.html

Here's another kicker in that deal- you can get 20W solar panels on the big river (big shock, eh?)- which are $43 for just the same wattage panel.  I got my panel for $40 and it came with an integrated charge controller for a lead acid battery.  Yes another CHEAPER product, made locally, mostly sourced from US parts that is cheaper than the stuff I could get from China on amazon.

Pretty nice day for local companies to me.

Late fees?  You can't just park a car in the backyard, unregistered?

Sounds like socialism to me.

In reply to Streetwiseguy :

Depends on if the state considers registration a road-use tax or a vehicle-ownership tax.  If it is an ownership tax, hell yes there would be late fees for not paying your taxes.
