Moving today is today, Yesterday the team packed up half the house and today will be the other half.

I'm lucky enough to get the full corporate move this time around, but man.. Maaaannnn. It's exhausting with a 7, 5, and 1 year old.

On to Minnesota where I can afford a garage and a play toy(I mean a car, you sickos).

I hate moving. Not looking forward to it at all, and it is coming in a month or so.

I despise moving... we're moving next week.

We've been slowly packing away non-essentials over the past few weeks. The part I hate the most is having a project car that runs but is not driveable.

I've done the corporate move twice.

Packing is packing, and yes, it's exhausting.

Unpacking however, you're usually offered a choice-- the moving company unpacks or you do. Having done it both ways, I highly recommend doing the unpacking yourself. It was extremely stressful trying to figure out where all the stuff should be put as they unpacked it. While it's a chore doing it yourself, it can be done at a slightly more relaxed pace, and then the moving company will come by to pick up the boxes and packing material (which was kind of a pain to deal with) when you're done.

It's about 100 degrees here today, I'm a little jealous.

Give it 3 or 4 months. You'll no longer be jealous.

Moved from PA to GA two years ago. Worst. Move. Ever. We had moved locally around PA several times. It was never fun, but we had it down to an art form. Moving 800 miles just sucked...mostly because we drove the U-Hauls. But then again, every February when I see it's -2F and -15F wind chills back in PA, I put my shades on and walk outside to the 70F warmth and smile.

Doubtful, I'd rather be freezing for a month than be hot for a day.

I hear ya brother. I've been effectively moving since April 16th of this year. After spending the first year studying nonstop for an exam, I took said exam on April 15th and started decluttering my house the next day. Worked hard to get it on the market by May 1 and it sold in a week. Had to pack for a June 5th move out and extended stay with my inlaws (fo free).

We closed on our new house on July 5th and now we're remodeling while still living with inlaws. We don't expect to move our stuff (that's in storage) until mid August. I can't even think of unloading the storage unit and unpacking at this point.

Oh, and I have a 3.5 year old a 2 year old, and a very pregnant wife. Try painting and remodeling with that combo.

we're moving this weekend too.

We moved out of our old place last month and stashed our belongings in storage. Family helped with that, and the moving truck was a little too small, the storage unit was a little too small. You have more E36 M3 than you think you do. Thats it, clearly I have surpassed the amount of things where it is not feasible to try and move myself, I know that now. Never again.

We hired movers to move everything from storage to the new place this weekend.

I hired movers last time to carry my stuff out of the Uhaul and into the apartment. Best money I have ever spent.

If we move in with the inlaws next, I'll do the same thing (but the reverse). If we move into an apartment or house, the movers are doing EVERYTHING and I will be thrilled.

We've moved twice(SWMBO 3-times) and still have boxes of crap that haven't been unpacked from her first move...and she calls herself a "minimalist"!

The previous move was pretty unstressful, almost too much so, because we were just moving a few blocks, into a (much) larger place, and had no hurry about clearing out the old place. That meant it took almost 4 years to finally get all the crap out.

This one wasn't really too bad, despite the distance. Buying a small trailer, and being able to do it a bit at a time, as we needed something, was nice. The 1700-mile round-trip to accomplish it, not so much.

They'll be in the upper nineties next week, unfortunately we will be in the upper 90s for the next two months, pretty much continously.

My wife and I moved ourselves just over 30 years ago on July 4th. Just like this year, it a drought that year and it was 100° that day. We were supposed to have helpers hired by the company I was going to work that day, but after we had delays leaving Columbia, they got tired of waiting and left. Thus, we loaded and unloaded our selves. I will never, and can never, do that again. Neither my back nor marriage could take it.

Any future non-local move will include liquidation of anything that won't fit in the cars.

I remember when my family moved in '96. A 26' truck plus a loaded half ton and a Gran Marquee. 90% of the stuff went into a storage unit for three years, and then everything but the furniture has sat in the basement since '99. Never again.

This. All of this. When I "decluttered" my house to stage for selling, I half filled a storage unit with absolutely useless garbage. Was very tempted to load everything into my truck, find a dumpster and tell my wife someone stole everything.

With the divorce, layoffs, and moving to a cheaper place to save money.......I have rid myself of many things.

A love seat, chair, bed, clothers, computer, guitar and amp, and some artwork are about all I have left. And I have a few more boxes to go through to try to get rid of some more random stuff.

Looks like I'll be moving in about 5-6 weeks as well, sellers accepted our offer last night on the old farm house I made a thread about.

The good news is I really don't have a lot of E36 M3. I've made a conscientious effort NOT to accumulate too much crap until I move into a reasonably permanent dwelling. Moving to/from college, I would leave whatever couldn't fit in the 8 ft. bed of a Tundra on the curb. Most of my belongings, aside from clothes, tools, and other daily necessities, are still condensed into easily movable form from when I moved out of my last place and into my parents in April. Should all be doable in a few pickup truck loads. SWMBO and her gigantic couch, refrigerator, washer, dryer, ect. on the other hand...

The next move will be tools, cars, a few keepsakes, and clothes. Everything else is going to go up in flames or get sold with the house.

And we're going somewhere cold and mountainous.

I still keep everything in wood crates, and milk crates. When it is time to move, those stylish shelves are now modular, stackable moving boxes. Before anyone accuses me of being smart, I've got a move going on-2 non-op cars, 2 non-op motorcycles, 2 drill presses, one lathe, 5 transmissions, one each operational motercycle, truck, car. Apparently I collect distributors.

The girlfriend and I are combining households, and she likes books like I like junk. This will be an adventure. Craigslist and the dump have each become dear friends.
