Good luck with whatever is next! Get something fun to drive, and good dental and mullet insurance for the kids before hockey season starts.
Dispatch from the front:
Have landed in minn. people are nice. My children have developed ab allergy to sleep. So far I've been in better car wrecks than this but it will get better.
Having moved 9x in 20 years I can't say that I enjoy it with one major exception. It's a great opportunity to cull the pile that is your personal junk stash. If boxes haven't been opened in ten years, they simply need to go.
Congrats on the move. MN has perhaps the nicest people in the entire U.S., and it's a beautiful state. Hopefully you enjoy outdoorsy stuff, as most of MN is woods, lakes and rivers. Invest in quality winter gear, and it will make those seven months of the year much more bearable!
When you get a chance, head up to Ely and canoe the boundary waters----it's Gods country!

Plus one to that.

It is. Give it a minute. It'll change.

Yep, you got about 2 solid months before snow is a threat.
So. House is inspected. Things are looking good. Far western suburbs for the wife.
What size snowblower do I need. I had an 8/26 toro in ct and we got some storms that made it inadequate.
We had a 12 HP snow blower when we lived in the snow belt. It never felt like I needed more and we use to have to use the piss out of it. luckily, We haven't seen snow in 4 years outside trips up mountains so no longer need any of that.

Not sure the size exactly, but my dad bought a snow thrower for $1,700 that has a light, electric start, heated grips, everything. I made fun of him for exactly the time between when he bought it at when we got a huge snowstorm. Then he was the one laughing. Its so big that it is actually too big for small snows, so he has a small honda for that.
I don't know mn seems to get a lot less snow than the other places I have lived. Typical suburban house with a shorter driveway dosent seem like it needs a monster blower.

Mn hasnt had a nasty winter in a good bit. I recommend one of those ones attached to a deuce and a half.
Seriously though don't be the guy that has to fight a good old fashioned mn snowstorm with an electric snow pup. Get something big.

A decent two stage one will throw the snow out of the driveway so that you are not doing it twice.
And if you want to save some money and not get a massive one, for the one snow every 5 years that a blower would not handle at once, do it in the middle of the storm once.
In reply to mndsm:
Ok. I'm not interested in a tiny one. My wife, who grew up in Rochester ny is laughing at your snowfall totals and suggested we just shovel it. I think she's crazy, but 50 inches a year is about less than half the snowfall we are used to.

Most of the snowfall you can shovel. There will be 1-2 on average that, yeah, you can shovel, but jeebus we made machines for this! It really will take you 4 hours to shovel for that one really bad snow every 1-2 years. My experience in Chicago anyways, and from what I remember of my brother describing when he lived up there. YMMV
