out with the old, in with the new.

RE71r to RE71rs

Don't judge them by the comparative sizes, the new one is a 225/50, next to a 245/45.

I'll lose some acceleration, but the grip is fantastic.

My favorite NAPA folded its tent and moved 2 miles away, MUCH bigger shop.  Trying to pimp lifts for sale, they brought in a '64 GTO.

In reply to 914Driver :

Those berking carbs.

The end carbs are strictly "secondaries".  They are a PITA.

Four barrel carbs have idle circuits in the secondaries, to keep fuel flowing through them etc.  Those Rochester end carbs do NOT have idle circuits.  The throttle plates must form a tight seal when they are closed otherwise they represent a major vacuum leak.

From the factory, they had a coating in the bores for the throttle plates to seal against. The first time you rebuild them and clean the bores, the carbs are ruined and the engine will run like poo.

I have a pic somewhere of me smoke-testing a GTO 3x2 setup with rubber gloves clamped over the tops of the carbs to verify that there was no air leakage.

Next GTO PITA: Four speeds.  Almost every Pontiac I have laid a wrench to was a four speed.  The exhaust ports point down from the cylinder heads.  The starter, exhaust manifold or (even worse) header, and the clutch Z-bar all want to be in the same place.  Sometimes also the steering box.

We bought a new "coffee table" for our sunroom today. Colors work, and we like the Southwestern style. There are a couple glasses of wine barely visible in there. So it's not really a "coffee table." (BTY, did I ever tell you where I got those wine glasses?)

The screenshot version is what makes it random. But his laser engraver can burn off layers of spray paint from canvas to show colors.

Spotted in traffic the other day. I really can't remember the last time I saw a Pulsar NX. Weirder still, I think it's on Mopar alloy wheels.

Leitz Minolta from mid 70s. Sadly, apparently a key metering part it needs is unobtainium.

Tried to Google it but nothing came up about it. That looks like a decent convertible that was in flames. Crossfire maybe?

Yep, crossfire.  Not a single police or firetruck to be seen.

If you own that and want to move it, PM me. I generally shoot without a meter, so a failure like that is inconsequential to me. Lord knows I don't need another camera, but a CL has been on the short list for a while.
