David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty, Bobby and Donnie Allison.  The guys that were driving when I first became aware of motorsports back in the 1970's.  RIP.

He was a better driver than Richard, he just didn't have Richard's resources.

I live in the same county and I swear I thought he had already passed.  Long as I’ve been here, I’ve never come across him in public.  I did see Bud Moore and Cotton Owens a few times.

take note that those drivers were MEN,   NO power steering or power brakes No COOL suits, no radio, 500 miles was an endurance race, NO time out's for a spot of Tea,
