I think I heard somewhere that this was one take in the studio.

OK, more like an hour ago than right now, but this was from the Depeche Mode show this evening (during "Never Let Me Down Again", I think)

You can really hear the Trey Gunn influence here.

One of a long series of stoner-rock compilations from various parts of the world.  WEEDIAN is a fantastic compilation series featuring bands you've almost certainly never heard of.  Today's selection is Portugal.  Yesterday's choice was Indonesia, which apparently has a thriving heavy music scene.

This was a local band when I was a teen, kind of part punk, part rockabilly.

TIL that Opeth covered Robin Trower's Bridge Of Sighs:

And an excellent cover it is.

I spent many a stoned evening listening to that Robin Trower album

Not sure what happened, but I've really been getting into jazz lately.

Something about that piano at the beginning of In a Sentimental Mood does something to my brain:

I love the way they walk off during Spanish Moon to end that show.  Such an awesome song.

Listened to some new Metallica, or at least the 4 songs that Spotify has.

Really kinda meh overall. It's like they are terrified that they will be called soft because they are pushing 60 and over exaggerated the worst parts of metal. Like.....if I didn't know better I'd think it was a meh club level metal band from the 2000-ish era.

And also, it seems like they are doing the super-dry mixing again which is very grating

You, sir, are a man of taste and discretion. I'll line that up for tomorrow's playlist. Probably throw a little Tim Hus in there just to top it off.

Tonight's dinner soundtrack was a Turnpike Troubadours album. Before that it was Bob Wills, with Little Monohue throwing out an "awwww, now" or "yeeeaaah!" every so often. Now it's this:

Ol' Waylon is next.
