Bringing this thread back from the dead because I got a bunch of iTunes cards over Christmas and so I downloaded some Split lip Rayfield, The E36 M3kickers, Blue Highway, Reckless Kelly and Trigger5.

Blue Highway is excellent. I got Candy Coburn's new CD (Texas flavored country) and Gloriana (sort of like Little Big Town and Lady Antebellum). Ashton Shepherd should have a new CD out this year (Alabama twang).

Wait, when exactly are you talking about? Music-Machine-generated country music has been that way for about 20 years, if not 30.

Awesome. Thanks, man. We're on Amazon too, if anybody has gift cards to waste there...

And we're mixing a 4 song EP right now (that may go on a split 10" with us acting as the backing band for another local multi-genre musician) of killer material. So, new stuff from T5 coming down the pike in the next few months.

D'oh! Way to not notice the date. What's with all the gravedigging recently?

I'm loving new country, it's taking the place of old rock 'n roll.

Funny you should mention. I just came from a thread on sort of a good ol' boys Telecaster forum about Keith Urban's new guitars. Turns out, he's playing a couple custom Teles (one with a shattered mirror top and one covered with LEDs) that pay subtle homage to both Ace and Paul's guitars in the latter era of KISS. Coincidence? Likely not...

Oh, and since this thread has been brought back from the grave, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention, apropos of this thread, that the link to my band's (Trigger 5) live on-air performance from this past Saturday on our awesome local station KDHX can be easily and conveniently found at this very link for your listening pleasure right here!

Which Reckless Kelly album did you get?

As much as I dislike the guys music, Keith Urban is a superb guitarist.

The stuff I am listening to the most right now is rotating between old punk (the Clash, Sex Pistols, some old Oi! bands), alternative country and bluegrass and the Wu-Tang Clan. I think I might be a bit strange...

That is one that I haven't listened to yet (although I've probably heard most of the songs). How is it?

Wait! Since when is bluegrass not considered country music?

That is like saying punk isn't rock and roll.

I like it a lot. There are a number of really good songs on it.

Edit: Turns out it released today

I went to an Ag college and watched goat ropers stand in the parking lot roping steer heads and spittin' chaw everywhere while singing more versions of "Your Cheatin' Heart" than I knew you could make of one song so I hated country for the longest.

But when they got progressive I began to listen. Now I listen to the really old stuff and the new stuff and don't care much for all that in between.

But my radio dial has presets for Country, old rock, new rock, Christian, classical and just about everything but rap and I change stations when they get to a commercial I hate. Which means I rotate around a lot.

There ought to be a law that prohibits a business owner from making their own commercials.
