Somewhat rare, but this is the second one I've seen for sale in a month or so. The other one was out west.  One of the comments was from a Toyota salesman at the time and he never saw one at the dealer he worked at. Whether or not a rusty example, even if it includes a parts truck, is worth that asking price is debatable.

I own one, and its for sale as well. They were only available for the 86 and 87 model years, as a stop gap until a V6 could be fitted. It's a lightning bolt compared to my non-turbo 22RE 4Runner

My next door neighbor had one for years, from the showroom floor to the pile of rust in the yard. His was an extended cab. I almost dropped when I saw the Turbo badge.

Continental drift seems fast compared to a 22RE powered anything.

Really cool animals if you have ever climbed around one.  Nissan twin piston calipers and lsd’s from the factory.  My brother had a rough one but it was cool.

I think they imported around 1000 total.  I had a 4x4 with a worn out 22re, yes continental drift sounds about right.  On a good day maybe 50hp.

I had an '86 4x4 with the carb'd 22R from 1990 to 1998.  No, acceleration was nothing to write home about, but I don't remember it being particularly slow for the era.

For a couple years in college I worked the counter at a national parts chain and would always jokingly ask the Toyota PU guys if it had a turbo when navigating the engine selection list. It was always good for a laugh....until one day a guy answered yes. Everyone at the shop went out in the parking lot to see the mythical beast. We always thought it was an error in the system.
