$3.5K  dayam that's cheap.  Have you checked LKQ for a TIPM?

In reply to spitfirebill :

Long story, the answer is yes, but yes it's also cheap. Someone buying it for that super cheap price would be best now for lots of reasons.

It really is great. If it fails to start, you shift down into drive and back into park and it starts right up. Runs fantastically, lots of new parts (torque converter, transmission solenoid pack) and it has that aftermarket Blaukpunkt stereo with bluetooth for streaming.

Dang. Might have to talk to wife again. It's time for a new minivan for us. Bluetooth radio?

Edit, doh! I see the Bluetooth part.

Sent you a video last night of a test drive. Hope it helps.

Wonko, I can send to you also, but it says "for Robbie" a few times in there. Just ignore that.

Robbie is sending a check over, so sale pending. My oldest son is sad that we're actually going to do it. We may have to ask for update pictures when you get it.

Minor change of plans, Wonko will take delivery next Friday because Robbie doesn't like a cold butt.

This is true, and I very much appologize to tuna and wonko for me being an a-hole.

Eh, it would have been way more of an emergency if Wonko was not here, and the wrath of Tunawife would have been fierce, but I'm pretty laid back. Sorry I was so distracted drilling holes in my ceiling last night, but thanks for the chat regardless!

No worries Robbie :)  Thanks for letting me upgrade my rusting 2005 T&C!

Although a seat heater is a necessity, they're cheap and easy to install, I've done a few of 'em.

Get off my lawn! <- guy who drove through ten years in upstate NY with vinyl seats which you stuck to in the summer and cracked in the winter.

You have my sympathies. I've been pondering an "upgrade" to a 2017 Grand Caravan GT to replace my current 2008 bare-bones model.  Some nagging issues are starting to crop up and be persistently bothersome... And like Robbie, heated seats would be nice... and a working stereo... and a bit more power than the OHV 3.3 V6 puts out would be nice at times.  And one has to wonder how much longer the 4 spd A/T will last with 209K miles on it...  But the '08 has been such a great "work horse" over the past 4.5 years, I'll be sad to see it go.

Do it.  You can get new GCs with nice equipment groups in the low $20s.  It so much nicer a van, you'll wonder why you hadn't already.

Ian - Yeah, this'll be an upgrade to one of my 2005 T&C Touring models.  I'll miss the leather, but I'm really curious how the VVT 3.6 compares to the olde-skoole 3.8 that I love in the 05, and I'm not exactly in love with the 4 speed auto so I'm hoping the 6 speed is a nice upgrade.    Apparently this'll get significantly better gas mileage on the highway, I only get an average of 18, with about 21ish on the highway @ 78 MPH.

The pentastar is the best engine I’ve driven in a long time. Plenty of power, and the oil filter accessible from the top. I’m throwing in the spark plugs I never changed and the starter I didn’t need to replace.

More than once I’ve gotten over 30 mpg highway cruising. More like mid 20s around town.

:(  I don't want to make you sad...

On the other hand, I do plan breaking it right..  I'll be camping in it friday night.  Since I'm heading up to Summit Point to meet my friend, I figured I'd just bring along my 12v air matress and set up shop there to join the party.  Yay stow-n-go!

Best I’ve averaged with my ‘15 GC was 23-25 and that was in the summer months. Winter months it’s around 18-19. I didn’t buy it for the mileage but it is nice.

On one trip deep into WI on I94, I pulled 29 mpg that may in part be due to following a semi box trailer for a large portion of the trip.

My '08 averages about 20. Sometimes in the upper teens. Occasionally 21 or 22.  I think once or twice on long hwy drives across PA at 70-75 MPH it got 24.  I calculate the MPG of every tank.  I don't think I've seen 24 since 2016 when I was driving back and forth to NH every 2-3 weeks.

A local dealer is selling brand new 2018 SE models with up  to $10K off MSRP.  About $29K down into the mid-$18K range. Maybe. I'll have to see what kind of negotiating I can do. They are basically the same as the van I currently have, but brand new and a few more features (all power windows is the big one).

My van broke again on Thursday and needed to be towed to the shop to have the other heater Y-pipe replaced.  After work tonight, I pull the 2" hitch receiver off, clean it up a bit, and head to the dealer tomorrow to see what I can get for trade-in.  It's been a good van and I'll be sad to see it go, but it was purchased to be an appliance and part of that criteria is it needs to be dead-nuts reliable.
