Lowered the price for GRM'ers.  Dropped it $100 to $325 shipped.  Someone grab this from me!

Hmm, tempting. Does it log data for later analysis as well or is it a self contained system?

In reply to BoxheadTim (Forum Supporter) :

Tim, yes it logs data for later analysis.  You have software (which is free) on your laptop that you use for that.  The software lets you look at all sorts of different parameters, braking, corner speed, lap times, put together a "best" predicted lap, stitches in the video, etc, etc

You also plug in your home tracks and it automatically knows where you are on track, each corner, start/finish, all that.

Droool,

I want that, but really don't need to track my two HPDE per year.  But then there are the Lemons races...

Thinking...thinking...thinking...

Can it plug directly into OBDII for the RPM inputs etc?

Those are a great system and that's a good price.  The only downsides are that the product is no longer supported and the software is a bit awkward to use.  That's offset by the systems capabilities and the fact that there's a pretty good user community.

I've got one in my Spec. Miata and my Formula Ford.  The D2 box has some additional analog and digital inputs.  I've got one tied into an O2 sensor on the FF.

If nobody else is interested in this I'll buy it as a spare but I'd rather see someone here who will actually use it end up with it.

In reply to akylekoz :

That kinda depends.  So on the 996 I bought a right angle ODB2 plug with bare wires on it.  I figured out which pin was the tach feed and I'm using that to supply the tach input into the traqmate.  You could do the same for other things that the OBD2 port outputs.  I can include my OBD2 plug that I'm currently using, you'd just have to figure out which pins on you car equate to the outputs you want.

In reply to akylekoz :

The OBDII standard is limited to serial data communication.  There are pins available for the manufacturer to use for whatever signal they'd like but without looking at the specific year make and model there's no way to know if there's a tach output.  However, it's not hard to find a tach signal on most cars.

After thinking on it over night, I’m going to pass.  I’m really trying to spend less on toys and more on track time.

You need to spend more on toys that help you go faster on track.

I just want to point out that your track time will be more valuable if you have a data acquisition system.  They're really an incredible learning tool and it's fun to go back and relive each lap in detail.
