I am planning on open the room at 5 (6,7,8) pm.  I am thinking of some Vintage Touring (the one with the Escort and the 2002) and the slower street class (F?) with the old Mustang as well as the class with the 911 RS.  With that mix I am guessing I should probably not turn on AI cars.  I will set it to 10 min qualifying and 3 lap race.  We should be able to get in 4 races before I need to reset.

I am thinking of using the small Nurmburg track (since we all should be used to it) but can use tonights track if anyone thinks that's a better idea.

To give a quick download of what I learned today, I think the physics changes made this car more true to form and prior tunes have an issue.  I found out that moving the weight towards the back actually stabilizes the car a LOT.  Just moving from 48/52 to 46/54 made the car understeer where it had been loose before, there was no sudden rotation off throttle, and it never had any of the snap issues that they did when we first started driving them.  The three tunes posted so far all follow conventional theory and have the weight moved all the way to the front, but I don't think that's the best layout anymore.  It will take some suspension tuning to fully make use of, but just doing that to an already quick setup gave me a solid 0.5s per lap and was easier to drive.

for what ever reason it took two hours for my update to down load. Reset my router and I am back to 500/500 not sure what was going on with that.

Yep, race happened with me, Air, Argo, and Rotary, though I don't recall the exact  finishing order.

Brad, explain to me how you get the video off the PS4 again.  I have the replay in PC2.  There does not appear to be an export option.  Do I just play it through and then do a video replay save from the PS4?  Then export from there?

The race was somewhat uneventful. Sauce of course qualified first, I was second then Argo then Rotarian.  At the start, I quickly realized I did not know if I could take the first corner while allowing room outside since it was clear Argo got a very good start.  I held the corner a best I could but did drift out.  I thought I ran Argo into the grass, but it wasn't quite that bad.  Argo tried his best to stay out of the way and managed to get some grass and spin.  He spent the rest of the race getting through the AI cars.

I ran around with not too much drama.  I did manage to miss the braking point on the hairpin one lap and ended up up stuck in the barrier.  This allowed Rotarian to get by, which was fine, it gave me something to do.  I had a faster pace then him, but he is by no means slow.  I eventually caught and passed him (from a mistake on his part).  I thought I had a comfortable margin on him, but he clearly either figured something out or was really pushing it towards the end because he got uncomfortably close and I had to start pushing again.

Towards the end, I saw Argo appear two spots behind Rotarian, then he disappeared again.  The may have had something to do with the appearance of Sauce... on a march to lap the entire field!  Rotarian had some issues on the last few laps and lost a number of places (I blame Sauce again).  I forgot to get a screen cap, but the preliminary results as I remember them are (do not use as results, just a guess at this point):

1-Sauce, 2-Air, 4-Argo, 7-Rotarian.

So, next week is a very short Brands hatch course.  The goal now is to see if we can keep Sauce from lapping the field twice or more!

I usually use Twitch to get the replay. I’ll stream the replay and when it’s finished stop streaming. Then go to twitch and export the stream to YouTube. It’s a pain, but it works.

Looks like I guessed right.  If I was be smart, I would have taken a screen shot at the finish last night.

Here is my (thankfully) non-contact with Argo and the result.  We never really got close, he was just a bit too cautious.

Yeah, that first turn spin was me thinking I could hold more speed on the outside.  Then I spent the rest of the race going from 11th to 4th - three times!   I worked my way back up to fifth only to make an ill advised passing attempt on a bot for 4th and put myself off.  Set off again and worked back up to forth then made a mistake and.... Lather, Rinse, Repeat.  Set off again and would have had to settle for 5th but Rotarian gave me a gift with his off on the next to last lap.  Unlike Air's race, I was very busy and passed a bunch of cars...several times.

I vote we don't run the short version of Brands.  Short tracks are not fun and not better for these cars.  I vote we run the full Brands.  It's a track we all know and will be fun for competition.

In reply to Argo1 :

I'm OK with the longer track, the fewer attempts of T1 the better. laugh

I do think with the longer track will make getting past bots much easier after one of the inevitable offs either in T1 or catching a curb in the 2nd section.

We are running some of the smallest, slowest cars in the game and you guys are complaining about not having enough room to race.

I think it’s a driver issue, not the tracks. cheeky

Fine, we can run the full Brands track.

In reply to BradLTL :

I'm fine with the tracks and the people here, it's the AI that we need the extra room with.  They take some odd lines and have a tendency to, once overtaken, stick their nose in on the next corner when they have no business doing so.  Slightly larger tracks help those things be less of an issue.

Either way, it doesn't matter the configuration, Brands and I don't get along.  I've never figured out T1 or T4 (GP), and since T4 is so important for the high speed section that inconsistency causes me a lot of problems in the next couple right handers.  I also have the habit of using the curbs on the two tuns after that, and in these cars that probably won't work well.  I'll probably be on an run some laps tonight and see if things are any different, but that sums up pretty much all of my races at Brands in GT6.

Points are updated, and Sauce can't lose... even if he loses.  Now, me being off last week has really made 2nd place an interesting battle.  1 point between me and Air with Argo lurking 12 points back with 2 races to go.

I practiced the short course and there really are only two tricky turns. The first turn is not bad just resist the urge to over drive it. The other one is the 2nd to last corner over driving it tends to send me way off the track on the left. The last turn is fun and is critical to getting a good run down the strait.

I spent some time running the long track and found out 2 things: one, this isn't as bad as GT6 for keeping it on track through T1, and two, there is a limit on the number of tunes you can have across all tracks. I save versions when I make changes so if it doesn't work I can go back without having to remember exactly what I changed. Apparently I have done that too many times and my changes wouldn't save.

My fast lap was a 1:39, but with all the offs my average was probably in the low 1:40s. There's definitely time still out there, it'll just take more time on the track and setup.

So is this what everyone has merged to from GT6? I may have to get PC2. Online racing on GTS is full of cheaters and destruction derby.

Pretty much.  I have GTS also, but I really don't run it anymore.  I am a huge fan of the livery editor, but as noted, the online can be a bit frustrating.  I also just don't like the way the cars handle after getting used to PC2.  The cars in PC2 have WAY more character.  Much more interesting to drive (you will need to get used to them though).

PC2 has a nice selection of cars (a lot more cool old cars) mostly focused on race cars, a great selection of tracks and a slant toward simulation.  We normally don't get the super close racing we had in GT (we are working on finding a series that will do that though) since we cannot turn on any rubberbanding or super drafting.  The racing, in general is far more challenging, and far more rewarding, but is a bit more like real racing, where super close door to door battles are not super common.

Yep, this is where we ended up. I had a very similar experience with GTS, and since starting with PC2 I've only played GTS once. It's a very different game, but overall better IMO.
