2012 Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty Presented by Mazda

This year's Mitty was a rousing success. Uncounted thousands came to Road Atlanta in the scenic and hilly Georgia countryside to gather with car buddies, watch vintage races, eye some beautiful machinery and just have a good time. Here are a few highlights.

The incredible and aerodynamic Triumph TR250K was at the event, and it ran the featured race after lunch on Sunday.

Literally tons of Triumphs turned out. Triumph was the featured marque, and Triumph racing legend Kas Kastner was this year's grand marshal. Triumph guys are incredible. This one drove from Illinois and had the road grime to prove it.

Vintage imports came from the other side of the other ocean, too. This Datsun 510 is incredibly eye-catching in that bright orange color. There are all kinds of cool cars at The Mitty.

We brought our street Corvair project car, but a whole mess of Corvairs were there—including this Yenko Stinger race car.

There's never a shortage of MGs at The Mitty.

There are some less prestigious race cars at The Mitty, too. Hong Norrth brought their supremely successful LeMons Mazda MX-3, which is tied for the most overall wins in that series. They parked next to the Georgia Tech Miata, a Grassroots Motorsports Challenge regular.

Who doesn't love a good parade lap?

Where else but The Mitty can you see two Ford-powered roadsters side by side? This Sunbeam Tiger ended up right next to this 5.0-powered Mazda Miata in one of the car corrals.

Old meets new everywhere at The Mitty.

Think The Mitty is just for British cars? Not true. Chuck Beck brought his SHOgun prototype to the track. Only eight of these were ever made: seven for production, plus this prototype.
