2019 Lexus ES350 F SPORT new car reviews

A Product of Mastery. That’s Lexus’ new marketing tagline. And you know what? The 2019 ES looks the business.

From Lexus:

“Sporting a new coupe-like silhouette, artfully designed interior and dynamic driving capabilities, the 2019 ES boasts the most advanced technologies, including Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 standard and Amazon Alexa® connectivity, enabling inside the vehicle and outside the vehicle integration. In a Lexus first, the ES will feature Apple CarPlay® compatibility.”

We think Lexus has mastered the front grill on the new ES, as it seems to be the most organic implementation yet.

Ours was an F SPORT. What does that net you? Well, mostly appearance upgrades, but also the ability to select drive modes.

So, an ES350 F SPORT with 302 horsepower and the ability to put it into Sport S+ drive mode?

OK, Lexus. OK. We approve.

The Lexus ES series, a crowd favorite for decades, is more or less a fancy Camry. We can all agree on that, right?

And while I’m not anti-Camry, I’ve never been a huge fan of the ES. It’s kind of a tweener as, to me, it hasn’t delivered the full luxury car experience. If I had to put my finger on why, it’s the front-drive platform.

Yes, there are lots of front-drive luxury cars, but the ES has always felt way more Camry than Lexus. Front-drive Acuras have always felt sporty. Front-drive Lexuses, though, have felt a little meh.

I agree with David's point. Never goes far enough to be sporty.. It's a Camry in a high end suit and it's just not a true athlete underneath.

I mostly came to comment cause I chuckled at the first photo. The Texas plate caught my eye and then i realized the photo was taken during the Texas auto writers event, cause they asked the local SCCA region to staff it and I was in the meeting where it was discussed.

When I found it on their media site I knew I had struck gold.
