Al Unser Jr. Named Classic Motorsports Mitty Grand Marshal

The 2016 Mitty will also feature races full of genuine Can-Am titans.

Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty, one of the largest vintage racing events in the U.S., will celebrate racing legend Al Unser Jr. when it returns to Road Atlanta on April 22-24, 2016.

Al Unser Jr. is best remembered for his two wins at the Indianapolis 500, which came along with two CART titles, but he also has a long sports car racing history. Among many other entries, Al piloted Porsche 962s throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s with the likes of A.J. Foyt, claiming multiple podiums at Daytona and Sebring. Indeed, the whole Unser family has played a huge part in racing in the U.S.

Al will be signing autographs and meeting with fans Saturday afternoon at the Classic Motorsports tent in the Speedfest vendor midway located in Road Atlanta’s infield; he will also participate in a fan forum there on Saturday evening. Don’t miss this chance to hang out with Al Jr. in an intimate setting and hear colorful stories from his racing career.

The 2016 Mitty will also feature races full of genuine Can-Am titans. Prepare for more adrenaline-pumping excitement when racing’s loudest and most extreme road racing series takes to Road Atlanta as the 50th Anniversary of the Can Am series is celebrated at this year’s Mitty.

The Classic Motorsports Mitty is presented by Hagerty and sanctioned by HSR. Tickets are on sale now at hsrtickets.com. For more information and event updates, visit themitty.com.
